Nice to hear. Stay safe buddy.
I'm in my 2nd year of a business degree at uni 1 more year left then I'm going to apply for the aussie police force
Hope you have a safe and fantastic career in it.
also, why did you become a cop? do you have family to support? what is the starting pay?
What's your goal? Do you want to stay as a uniform cop? or do you want to specialise? Homicide, dog squad, swat, detective etc..

Thanks man, good luck. Keep your nose clean and stay out of trouble.
See my above post on why. I didn't have family support at first. They pretended like they were okay with it, but some of them actually tried to sabotage me at one point. Starting pay is 41,179 for certified folks.
I'd like to work for k9 unit and eventually SWAT. I wouldn't mind doing traffic and accidents, either.
I put myself through the academy in 2011 and I got hired on in August 2012. See above for salary.
Maybe
Police Officer II
I hear that.
County cop. We cover the unincorporated parts of the county.
No degree. I have 1 year, though.

Congrats!
I've applied to 10 small towns but they keep telling me no. They rather hire retired cops or full time cops as part time ones.
I'm on 1 big city hiring list but in hiring band 5 . I won't be getting a call. They are in hiring band 2, but only hiring 16 guys.
I test for another big city Oct. 20th.
I think during my orals I just failed...which is why they put me in hiring band 5.
Here in Illinois is tough. I don't know anyone which is why I keep getting turned down by small towns. At least that's what I've been told. Guess if you know the mayor or what not you'd be right in.
sucks because I'm almost 26 and I've wanted to do this since I was 8.
How long did it take for you to get hired on ?
County? city?
*Edit* I see you put yourself through the academy. You can do that here in Illinois but the written test/physical test is around 450.00
I can't risk paying that and not passing the written test..I only have a part time job at the moment so 450.00 for a test just isn't in the budget at the moment! Let alone another 3,000 for the rest of the academy IF i did get in.
