My 5 year old staffy had to be put down last april, I hadn't heard anything all day and then called my mum at 4pm, she answered the phone in tears, which made me cry, in the middle of work, I finished up and went home, I regret not going to the vet with her, fuk cancer.Pogba Crew

thanks for ruining my night was in a good happy mood now im almost shedding beta tears
OP dont get mad at the breeders for selling you a sick dog
think of it this way, you gave a dying dog the best life it could've had
if the breeder still had it, he/she probably wouldn't even give it the extra attention and care you did OP and would've let it suffered to die
breeders dont waste money on sick pups its all about the $$$ vet visit and treatment is costly i would know
stay strong brah

Buying from a breeder is not better. No hate. The simple act of creating a purebred increases the chance of recessive alleles becoming dominant. It's great that you had a positive experience, but purebreds (of all breeds) are notorious for having genetic, congenital abnormalities. Mutts are heartier simply due to natural selection.

Similar situation happened to our family dog earlier this year, got a schitzu from a breeder and he was usually always really playful but would be really sick sometimes and tired then fine again. After awhile the vet figure out he had a bowel disease and wouldnt make it much longer no matter what we did. Had to take him to the vet myself he was only about 8 months old at the time and crawled into my lap for the ride to the vet it was really tough on me. Vet told us the disease was genetic so good chance our pup wasnt the only one affected. The breeders are now blacklisted and any attempts to sell pups will get them in big trouble if they get found out.
Lost another dog I had years ago from some weird blood disease, he was only 2 and a husky lab cross with ice blue eyes. Super friendly and loyal dog, still miss em.Will rep fellow Subaru owners

Sad as hell, kept looking at my dog while reading this and to even think what that would be like is horrible.
Everyone keeps saying how fuked up the breeder is, and that's true. But if they were honest would you have bought him? Probably not, he would have been stuck at the breeders house, probably getting 1/10th the amount of love/attention that you and your family gave him. I'm glad he got to spend the time he had with good people.

Yeah this is how I think about it. When I told the breeders he was sick they said "bring him back and we'll give you your money."
I knew that if I took him back they'd just kill him. Pissed me off man.. He was definitely a happy pup up until the end, albeit sick. He laid around a lot - always slept on my mom's feet or lap while she was working (works from home), and always laid with my 7 year old brother on the couch when he would come home from school.Pair Of Beers - The best beer pairings for whatever life throws your way.

Thank you for showing Brody love in his short life when noone else would love him. If you treat your dog well, the relation you have with him/her is like no bond between humans could ever be - it is true love, no shallow emotions, no lies, just pure love. All dogs want is to love and be loved, and you did exactly that.
You are a strong man for being with him in his last moments, I can not imagine how hard it must've been, but Brody must have known that you, his best friend in the world, were there with him until the very end. Try not to be sad, again, I can not imagine how overwhelming it must be - focus on the happy times you two shared, the good experiences, and the times when he could forget about his illness and simply feel like a member of your family.
I am very well aware that my dog, Sally, will most likely not live to see my 30th birthday. It breaks my heart to think that there will be a point when all I have is a memory of my time with her...Since death is inevitable, all you can do is enjoy the time you have with your best friend and making sure they are happy, which is exactly what you did. Again, thank you.
