Hope you realize space doesn't actually look like that.. they add colors to the photos to show the elements within it.

In the Hubble pic, isn't each of those dots (even the small ones) not stars but entire galaxies?

You do realize that there's not actual gigantic clouds of colorful gas, right? The cameras paint different elements different colors. In the visible light spectrum, it's all black and white.

Think about that fact that there's probably multiple telescopes in those galaxies taking pictures that include our galaxy.

Yes, and the way they got the picture is pretty cool. What they actually did, is they found a part of the sky that seemed to be completely black, with nothing in it's region. They ended up pointing to telescope towards that patch of dark sky and came back with that photo.

Even the original black+white photos are mindblowing. Yeah nothing is all bright and colorful, but you still have these absolutely massive clouds of dust in all of these interesting shapes due to the amount of forces acting on them. Space is crazy brah.Originally Posted by jroinx
