C'mon seriously? If you were playing a role playing game, would you not think it's important to defend your base? Oh wow, defense is expensive - well no ****. But that's a small price to allow us to live the lives we live.

Lol I don't know where you're supposed to get a good 4 year college education for $20,986, try 5 times that much if you're going anywhere reputable.

LOL@the idea that the current US Military budget is needed for a defensive perimeter. That's why we have 11 Aircraft Carriers when the next competitor has 2. No, our military budget is bloated and we maintain much more than needed for defense.
edit: not saying that defense isn't important. It is. We're just way beyond that with the current scope of our military.“I think you don't grow up until you stop worrying about other people's purposes or lack of them and find the purposes you believe in for yourself.”- Ender Wiggin, Xenocide

Look at house statistic. Now look at picture above it. Without that picture that statistic would not be available.

I think the point of having 11 is to maintain US dominance and leave little chance or encouragement for other nations to catch up. The US is also the one and only superpower and as part of their national interests, they need to be able to massively and relatively easily project their power world wide which means both having many and more [than your enemies].

Those sources aren't even correct.
The B-2 Spirit cost double that, and that's just to produce it, way more money is spent on maintaining such equipment.

It's not the government's job to provide 4yr educations, medical insurance, or houses. Defense is their job. I do agree, however, that we need to cut back on our defense budget.
