I don't know what to make of crossfit. It doesn't seem like there is any real science behind what they do and their programming seems to be a bunch of bullsh!t. That being said, it is the new thing and that means money. Has anyone tried being a crossfit trainer? Does it pay off? Their level 1 certification is 1000 dollars as is their level 2 certification.
Has anyone made the investment? Crossift is obviously ghey as Hell and it's proponents are like cultist but if it's profitable then Hell maybe I'll join the cult.

Crossfit is big business. $250 a head for small boxes ain't to shabby.
If you can find an area that is not already saturated you can be the first to break the ice in the area and make a nice living.
I am opening a private Crossfit style gym in April. No need for me to pay $3000.00 per year to carry the name. There are creative ways to let the market know you offer the same type services without using CF in the ad.
And the better gyms do not follow Crossfit (.com). They do their own programming but use the name to get traffic.

It's definitely not worth it if you don't plan on coaching at a crossfit gym or opening a crossfit.
I have the level 1. Its a weekend long cert, like the usaw, covers the crossfit methodology, their thoughts on nutrition, three practical sessions on core movements: squat, front squat, overhead squat, press, push press, push jerk, deadlift, sdlhp, clean...programming etc
The coaching is good, but this cert is pretty worthless outside the crossfit culture. I do get clients who ask about crossfit bc of its current popularity and I let them know im a trainer as a selling point....otherwise, I end up apologizing or explaining this cert to coworkers more than anything else. There is a lot of hatred towards crossfit within the fitness community, which I can understand.
If i were you id go try a few actual crossfit classes before considering this.
