I used to consider myself a libertarian -- I don't place myself in that box anymore (although I would describe many of my views as libertarian in nature), because I came to realize how fundamentally flawed the ideology is. Many proponents of libertarianism like to argue for their views by framing the argument as a collectivism vs. individualism paradigm. Society cannot function without clear lines of hierarchy and authority, and there need to be clear moral boundaries on what is acceptable conduct, beyond "just don't harsh my mellow bro".

Our economy is essentially a ponzi scheme. The faster you grow the younger population, the more wealthy your older generation will be. The FASTEST way to do this is via immigration.

Take Canada, for example.... They are importing indians at the speed of light, and their wealth is skyrocketing via real estate value.

I personally don't need my house to be worth $4 billion dollars in order to be happy, so I would NOT be in favor of importing massive amounts of immigrants..... but it's pretty obvious that the older people who are in charge of the legislation find it to be very, VERY important... You also need to realize that they aren't the ones who are going to deal with the fallout of this method, because they will be dead and gone.

You can say the same thing about slavery.... Having cheap labor for a generation or two has equated to hundreds of years of gang violence, ghettos, welfare, etc.... The people who benefited DGAF, they died before they ever had to witness the fallout.

Selecting whatever immigration rate you want in order to pump up your economy is NOT an "isolationist" ideal.

I consider the libertarian party to truly be "isolationist", and think they ought to embrace that label.
