Sweet. No unitards?
You need a good rack, a bench, and a 300-lb Olympic weight set. Now, what was your question?

Another of my other hobbies is leatherwork. I made this sheath for a set of Crescent fencing pliers yesterday. It was a real rush job but I'm happy enough with the result.
Has anyone got any ideas for gym related work? I considered making a belt, but the time and materials invested just wouldnt be worth it.My training log:

Happy New Year, crew! I've been on a little in the last few days- been busy around here. I didn't drink too much last night, had a bit of a buzz and calmed down after that.
Nice pics as always, KB and Yankee. Nice pistol JFindon. I bought a hunting rifle from my dad the other day, he needed money again and wouldn't let me just give it to him. It's a bolt action Remington 30-06. Guess I need to get back to hunting next year. My guns didn't get destroyed in a fire or boating accident, at least not yet."If there must be trouble let it be in my day, that my child may have peace." -Thomas Paine

I hiked out near Saguaro Lake on Sunday. The hike is called Goldfield High Country via Gateway Canyon. It had long stretches of river rock. I don't do well on this type of terrain due some old ankle and foot injuries. When I got home, I was hardly able to walk until I did some trigger point therapy. TP therapy is amazing; I was limping badly, finding it hard to put weight on my right foot and ankle. I worked on the muscles in my right calf and the peroneus muscles too. After about five minutes, I was able to put weight on my foot with significantly less pain and was able to walk with much less of a limp.
The interesting part of the hike was the trip up this canyon:
We saw this cave on the way up:
A view from the top of the canyon:
This small arch was at the end of the hike. It's really quite small; it's only slightly taller than a bench.
A view of the trail in late afternoon as we were hiking back. It ended up getting quite dark. We all strapped on our headlamps for the last half hour or so of the hike.

Any of the crew do any sort of circuit training? I'm debating going this route for a few reasons....
1. Time
2. The people I know who have done circuit training seem to get faster results and don't burn out quickly
3. Change of pace to "kickstart" my fat loss
Here's a few I'm reading and figure with the crew knowing what I have at home (rack, bench, DBs, exercise bike) some of you might have good insight if you've done circuit work before.

Thanks mate, back at you for those pics of yours.
Thanks P4L. I used a process called 'wet forming'. With the sheath made, I then dunked it into a bucket full of warm/hot water. Then I just put the pliers in the sheath, and used my fingers and a modelling tool (looks like a small spoon) to smooth the sheath around the handles. When the leather drys up again the pliers go into it with a nice 'click'. Its great for knife sheaths and such. At the moment I'm working on a sheath for my Ontario Cutlass machete, but then I plan on making a nice sheath for my Ka bar as the original one is a bit rubbish and has seen better days.My training log:

How about taking up muay thai or MMA? You get the equivilent of a very tough circuit session in whilst learning some skills. Whenever I go back to MT the fat just drops off. Only downside is that I have to adjust my weight training as a heavy MT session requires a lot of recovery.
@matrix, looking forward to the review mate, you've made some nice purchases today. My training log:

What a shame, buried on page 3.
Guys I'm trying to decide between the Spud Inc and Schiek dip belts. They are about the same price, $50. What do you recommend ?

Since they should be equally as sturdy (it's not like you're going to be dipping with over 500 lbs of weight), I'd go for whatever you think would be the most comfortable. I imagine the fabric webbing of the Spud would be better than stiff leather.
I happen to own a leather dip belt I bought from Jesup Gym years ago and am perfectly happy with it, but the leather does dig in a little during the summer when it's hot and I'm not wearing a shirt.

you could make your own for a similar price to what i did. and it would be more comfortable and be vastly stronger

I have a Grizzly fabric dip belt. I would imagine the leather would be stiff and less comfortable. That spud one looks pretty narrow. I would not choose either of those. JMO.

KB - With the cave picture you shot, that brings up something that I wanted to ask you about. Do you stick to the trails, or do you venture off of them? Would guess there are areas where you are restricted to trail only. Having visited assorted national/state/local parks over the years, have met people who strictly stay on trails, as well as others who like to venture off a bit. They all seem to respect the surroundings, but have different thoughts on what should and should not have shoe prints.
Is that cave an area that gets visited? Have been through several caves over the years, and can understand the need for some to be off-limits. Some of them were quite the challenge, especially when going in not knowing trails/routes inside.
Can relate to creek/river bed walking. Slipped/turned things more than once.[]---[] Equipment Crew #40 []---[]

On that particular day, we tried to stick to the trail as much as possible. But, unfortunately, that area has seen a lot of use in years past. The initial sections were torn up by motorized vehicles and equestrian use. There was a maze of trails in that area. So, many times, it was hard to know if we were following "the trail" or some other path created by a motorcycle, horse, etc. As we got further out, the trail actually got better in that there was pretty much only one trail. We didn't go in any of the caves. I don't think they're very deep. They'd make for a nice shelter in the event of rain or hail though. (I once waited out a hail storm in a shallow cave.) There was another cave that did appear to have a trail going to it, but we didn't have enough daylight to look at it.
As you say, when we hike in parks, the land managers pretty much want you to stay on existing trails. Sometimes exceptions are made for hiking in washes since rain will eventually wash away the footprints. Also, in a wash, damage to small plants or cryptobyotic crust can occur during a heavy rainstorm. Foot traffic in such areas is usually okay.
Some of our hikes are in national forest or wilderness areas. While it's still best to stay on the trails in those areas, more than a few of the hikes listed in the resource that I use have some off-trail or bushwhacking portions. I usually avoid those hikes. Sometimes bushwhacking is necessary even when you try to follow a trail due to either infrequent use or past fire. (Fire burns down the big trees which allow prickly scrub to grow in its place. Also, significant erosion can occur in fire damaged areas.)▪█─────█▪ Equipment Crew #35

There are currently 9 threads on the front page about "Adjustable Dumbbells". Hilarious.
I was going to read them all but I got too involved in the "Tibia Dorsi Machine" thread...
EDIT: The same goof bumped all the threads to post a link. He was banned. Funny.[]---[] Equipment Crew Member No.19
