Does anyone here make their own beer at home?
A friend of mine started doing it in the spring and I was skeptical.... but he brought some over in August and I was pleasantly surprised. Another friend and I got some equipment and have been brewing since the beginning of September. We've only had a couple of beers so far because I'm trying to be patient....but what we drank was pretty good.
Just curious if anyone else has tried it.▪█─────█▪ Equipment Crew #4 ▪█─────█▪

My goal is to have so much equipment that I don't have room to workout. I am almost there. :)

Well.... there are definitely some issues. It isn't necessarily cheaper and that's certainly not a reason for doing it.... the kits aren't cheap, the equipment isn't cheap, and once you figure time into it...well, you're almost definitely at a loss. However, its a neat process and its fun to make the different flavors/styles to see how the process is done. The wait, however, is a drag. You do all that work then have to wait weeks....then you do more work to bottle it.... only to have wait more weeks. My buddy and I have spent about 18 years hanging out doing one thing or another....mostly just finding a reason to drink a few....seemed like this was as good of a venture as any.
The biggest problem I see as far as the process goes.... is that we have very quickly made a lot of beer. Now, I can go through some product, especially in the summer, but I don't see any particular reason to increase my intake....nor does my liver. So.... I'll have to pace myself!▪█─────█▪ Equipment Crew #4 ▪█─────█▪

I've made a few batches and have the whole setup still. I only ever bottled once and bought a pony keg straight away. Every time I've done it in the kegs I bring it to a gathering or busted it out at a bbq at my house. Home brew can be delicious. There were a couple parties I brought it to that had plenty of different bottled beers available, but once I got there everyone had a red cup. Nowadays there is no way I'd be able to go through the 5 gallons that I make without having a bbq or something. Haven't done it in years. Perhaps I'll try it again when I'm not dieting .

Well guys I went to the Europa Games Expo today. Lots of fit girls and jacked dudes everywhere. Motivated me to get more serious with my training. While I was there I must've ate & drank about 50 samples of PWO, BCAAs, protein drinks, energy drinks, protein / food bars. All the PWO & energy shots were small but I must've had too much because I got a migraine lol. Here's some pics.

Awesome haul! That should last you about a week.
You should do a write up on all of the samples. Knowing which to avoid would be a boon to all those out there who haven't kept up with everything new.Crews: Ivanko Barbell Crew #52, York Barbell Club #95, Equipment Crew #59

Nah... not going through all that. If I think something is better than average I'll just set the wrapper aside for later. Is there was something in particular you were looking at?
I had one protein bar that was like a more dense rice krispy treat, Might look into those. Optimum made some like that for a short while. I really liked the Optimum ones but they stopped making them pretty fast.
There was a product there that was like the liquid Egg Whites International, but flavored. Zero egg taste or texture. I'll have to look into that one too.
Haha I forgot about the traditional MMA "fist pose" so my arm is around her.... loosely.... didn't wanna seem like a creeper lol.[]---[] Equipment Crew Member No. 21

I know I got at least one separate glutamine. I haven't really looked that closely at the proteins yet. Today I just sampled a few items that I had doubles of.
Ronnie Cole BCAA tastes great.... but then again I haven't tasted many bad BCAA either lol.
Cardio Igniter. Felt a pretty substantial energy rush right away. Didn't do any actual cardio on it but I will.... I have several of those.
Mr Hyde PWO - Took this yesterday and it was their high energy PWO. Felt a good energy rush but couldn't lift because the migraine from earlier came back. (Not the supps fault though)[]---[] Equipment Crew Member No. 21

So...
I'm guessing that thegoldfinger over in the Free-Spotter thread is actually Sherm?
I had my suspicions on his first post, but he's displayed too much knowledge (and interest) about the matter for it to be anyone else.▪█─────█▪ Equipment Crew #35

You need a good rack, a bench, and a 300-lb Olympic weight set. Now, what was your question?

The vid's got a good beat and you can dance to it. I'd give it a 70.
Could you please explain what you mean? I'm probably one of the few that uses Smith Machine this way! The reason is because I love benching and I have no spotters...I know no one that would even come near me to touch this much weight! All the solo powerlifters at the gym that have seen my method are now using this machine this way, albeit, probably without as much weight!
FTW.Last edited by AttyGuy; 10-28-2014 at 10:33 AM.

So, this guy is a hack?
I don't get the hate. I'm pretty sure I could bench 250 for a couple of reps right now.... with a slingshot and a smith you're saying I could put up 4 hundo?
I don't know if the guy's methods have any credence whatsoever.... but he's clearly strong and he's trying to lift in a safe fashion. I'd praise someone for lifting in a smith all day long over anyone using a simple bench press with or without human spotters.
....and I don't like smith machines.▪█─────█▪ Equipment Crew #4 ▪█─────█▪

I'm not stopping at 445 lbs! I know I am just getting started and until I hit over 600-700 lbs using my unique way of training I will not stop!Garage Gym Owner

Anyone out there have a TRX suspension training set up?
I'm thinking about picking one up for $100.Crews: Ivanko Barbell Crew #52, York Barbell Club #95, Equipment Crew #59

I have a jungle gym xt. I bought it a couple of years ago for about a hundo. At the time it was much cheaper than the TRX. I just did a quick search and it seems there are a lot of options on ebay for far less than $100. I'm not saying they're all good options....but for the most part all this is is a strap system that has adjustable heights, mounting options, and handles. If I could've gotten my hands on one for $30 that does what mine does....I would've seriously considered it.▪█─────█▪ Equipment Crew #4 ▪█─────█▪
