I always liked the Police Magnum with the factory metal folding stock. Useless stock, but cool and old-school. I prefer the parkerizing on the Police Magnum too.

My 870 is one of two firearms I own with a wood stock, the other being the 10/22. I kept the beautiful wood from my 870P, but had the stock shortened an incho or so, so that if I were shooting it with body armor, I would still have a good length of pull.

It turned out to be that exact one but with the mag extention. My buddy was gonna let me have it for 200.00 but I gave him 250.00. I wasn't that thrilled with it at first but it matches my S&W highway patrolman nicely so i don't think I will do anything to it. I will probably get a tactical model sometime in the future with the shock absorbing stock.

Classic design. The stock is horrible, except for storage/making the shotgun shorter.

Worth a try, I guess. It doesn't take that much space though, so they may be willing to wait until someone wants to pay $95.

its been up there with the other 3 things they want to sell, a preacher curl bench, a flat bench and a elliptical. none have sold

If you really want it, why not offer $50 before you even go to the house? THey way I see it, if someone is coming to my house to pick something up, they are coming with my asking price unless we have worked out the price beforehand.

I was really impressed with the Benelli Nova shotgun. It was priced at $439 and it felt better in my hands. You didn't have to reach as far for the pump, which I thought was a positive for my wife. I tried a few of the other Benellis with the pistol grip, but actually preferred the traditional stock (this may just be because I've never used the pistol grip stocks before).

Wow, we have quite a divergence of styles in buying/selling on CL!

For the items that I have purchased, I know up front what I am willing to pay for an item in excellent condition. I always ask sellers to both describe the condition and to send pictures, then I make an offer (or not) based on that information. I know that sellers aren't always honest about the condition of their items, and I have walked away from a seller's home before without making a purchase if I felt that the item was misrepresented. Usually I can get a sense of how honest they are by comparing their description with the pictures they have sent.

This style has worked well for me! It also seems to be the way most people who have bought from me do things. You guys make me wonder if there is a "regional" aspect to the way we do business on CL.......

Yeah I typically am fine with people bartering via email/text. Especially if they aren't in a close proximity, but I dealt with a lot of offers "cash money" on a Caprice I was selling...no one ever came to look at it not once. I kept getting hoards of text from the same guys too...one week it was a low offer, and if I said "sure" they were going to get the money that weekend and not to sell it....then a few weeks go by and the same guy ask if I still have it and it begins again. I finally told one guy "I'm not selling it to you even if you pay full price."

I also enjoy the bargaining part of it, offer counter offer, the psych out. I used to like shopping in Mexico just because of it.

LoL.... your rules on Craigslist are too strict Tim.

I have some guidelines I follow, but I roll with the situations if I think it will get things done. I often....I mean more like almost always....throw out some kind of an offer over the phone....and it works almost everytime. If it doesn't I usually make a decision right there on whether I'm even going or not....someone acts like a douche to my offer...hell with 'em....I've been able to find everything I want, I doubt theirs is that special or I wouldn't have been making an offer in the first place.

I'll deal on the phone with buyers too....if they sound like their serious and their offers aren't stupid. I don't really care much for the dance.....I just want to be done and get my stuff. Maybe its my delivery on the phone, but I can't even remember a time when someone flat out turned me down without so much as a counter.

Funny you talk about bargaining in another country.....I was in Turkey in 1998 and was trying to buy a watch at a bazaar. The cruise director on the boat had told me not to pay more than $45 for it. I found it....and told the clerk I'd pay $45. It was priced at $120 and I'll be damned if that goofball didn't come down in $5 increment offers....each being countered with "I'll give you $45 for it." He stopped at $50 and said he wouldn't come down any further.....I said "See ya" and my wife and I walked out.

Just before we entered the next shop the dude came running up to us with the watch saying he'd take $45. Turkish wiki-wiki......

I'm also not fond of the dance. I'm more of a straight shooter but I've learned that most on CL expect the dance and get fidgety if you don't do the dance... even sellers.

It happens on eBay as well as CL. I've listed something for buy it now $75 and it didn't sell. Then I relist again starting with a $200 buy it now and receive best offers of $150. Or start it at $1 and people will bid even higher.

The feeling that you're getting a deal seems to be very powerful for some people... sometimes a lot more powerful than the truth.

I guess I kinda do the same thing although I don't buy/sell nearly as much as some of you. But when selling I've always negotiated a deal beforehand. I have been offered less than the agreed deal when the buyer is in person but I always shoot it down right away and have so far not had any issues getting what we agreed upon in the first place.

That being said, if I was really trying to make money flipping stuff I'd probably do it totally different, but for me it's usually more about getting rid of something I don't want so I can buy something new to put in it's place lol.

Different situations have different tactics to me. I usually have a little bit of travel for items, so if an item is well above my comfort zone I will bargain over the phone. I once bought a woodworking machine for $450 ( a real good price) that the guy was asking $600 for, he had it on CL for a week and needed to move it so I asked and he accepted. I will talk someone down on the spot if a deal isn't made ahead of time, but if the truth be told I wouldn't even be there if I wasn't willing to pay the asking price.

On another note, I always ask for more than I'm willing to take because some people need to feel that they are making a deal, lol.

Is that a Promaxima utility bench? I didn't see if you named it. I have a Promaxima that looks a lot like that one. It definitely looks commercial. If you want a utility bench, that one doesn't look bad for $95 (as long as it checks out in person). I'd like to pay less, but that's because that's what I do and this is a single use item. Like you said....he's had it for awhile, he's gonna have to find the guy that knows what is and that was looking for one. I paid $50 for mine and the guy didn't even have his for sale. I was there looking at a set of Ironmaster DB's and after I made the deal on those I was looking at his other equipment. He had the Promaxima Utility bench sitting there and I inquired about it. He said he liked it, but never used it. I asked if he was planning on selling it and he said at some point probably would. I asked him what he wanted and he said $50, so I just took it with me.

I don't use it that much because I typically do standing overheads, but it doesn't take up much space, its there if I need it, can be sold for what I paid for it, and doubles as a chair for the desk area between sets.

Just remind him that if he accepts your $50 right now he'll be out of the "Craigslist Utility Bench Selling Business" which has to be what he ultimately wants anyway.

they only wanted 65. i didn't even have to say anything when i got there. i even got a text from them saying did i want the preacher curl bench and chair for $175 (they had previously wanted $250 for both, and lowest 225). they said they were taking up space and they wanted them gone. so keetman thought the same thing i did that they were . i gave them an extra $5 as a deposit on the preacher curl. they will keep it for me till i get paid again on the 15th of feb. they even gave me a recepit .

I have a cat that likes to hang out with me while I work out too. She'll occasionally do her own exercise of balancing on kettlebell handles as she steps from one to another. I worry about her sometimes when I'm swinging either clubs or kettlebells.

Is that wiggling due to a loose backrest or is there play in the mechanism you were looking at near the end of your video?

its almost like the bar is too small for the place it sits in. the pop pin is holding it fine. i wonder if there was some kind of plastic shim that fit over the bar at one point. so it wouldn't jiggle. i have something i can stuff in the hole around it so it won't wiggle. i'm sure it will work. just wish there was a better solution. backrest is stable.

Get a roll of metal tape from your local hardware store - it's about the same width as duck (or duct) tape. It's basically a thick metal foil with an adhesive backing. It'll probably be thin enough so that things still fit, but thick enough (with enough layers) to act as a shim for preventing movement.
