I agree with you and believe me I'm concerned. I grew up in the town this occurred in and this is a huge deal. It is a small city of about 8000-10000 people.... plenty of small time crime, occasional murder (as in I remember 2 in my lifetime), and other stuff...mainly drug related. I don't recall anything like this ever.
They really need to be caught, but with no identifiable information, I fear the only way to catch them is for them to succeed with an abduction. For two men to do this, they may not have targeted Wendler... but they have a plan for something. I doubt they will just decide to take up another hobby besides whatever evil they had planned for this 3yo boy.
Some people deserve to be tortured.... it pains me that so many people would be offended with that opinion. Some among us don't deserve good and fair punishments, they deserve to wish for hell to get here soon.
I can't imagine losing a child this way... makes me physically ill.▪█─────█▪ Equipment Crew #4 ▪█─────█▪

Wow, that's awful. I really hope this has a happy ending and that these guys are caught and punished. I don't want to get too political, but I totally agree that people like this need to be dealt with, especially considering recidivism rates, risk of harm to victim and the cost of incarceration.

You need a good rack, a bench, and a 300-lb Olympic weight set. Now, what was your question?

Being in such a small town I wonder if the assailants were actually aware of who the child was. Being a "semi-celebrity" in a small knit town could have made the child a target for ransom or something. I'm glad he wasn't taken as I could not imagine losing a little one myself. This is why I am never more than 10 feet away from my daughter while playing outside. There are too many crazy a$$es out there wanting to hurt children.

Az peoples...... Looks like I'll be joining you in the next year. We are currently checking out (online) spots we like. Now we really like McCormick ranch scottsdale area, but our 400k budget doesn't give us the type of house we need/want. We are keeping our current home and will rent it out. So we are looking at fountain hills , and I like what our budget gets us in Peoria (plus M's training camp). Can you zona residents chime in a bit please? We obviously want a nice clean, low crime, high ranked educational city...... And we can see the stats.... But what are your personal experiences? Thanks in advance.

Who all here trains in the AM? The wife and I started waking up at 5am to get our workouts done in the morning so I can work on the basement after work. I'm running 531 right now and yesterday's OHP workout went really well. Today's deadlift workout was terrible and I went to snap city, my back is killing me. How do you guys warm up suffeciently to accomplish these heavy loads first thing in the morning? I rowed for a 5 minutes, got some blood flowing in the lower back with some reverse hyper action during the warmup sets and I still felt off. Had to use straps on the last set b/c my grip was fried. I think I might need to reset a few cycles as I adjust to morning training. I didn't eat anything either, just some BCAAs intra workout. Anyone else have any ideas or suggestions on how to adjust to morning workouts?

I grew up on the west side. I have lived in the Phoenix area all of my life.
Some areas of north Peoria are nice. South Peoria is ghetto. I personally feel that Cave Creek, Carefree, Scottsdale and Fountain Hills are your best choices.
You can use this site to view crime maps. I get an email every morning with crime data within a mile of me.

What are your needs in a house? There are some nice large older ranch style houses in Scottsdale near 56th Street and Cactus. These sit on up to an acre. Nice for a family.▪█─────█▪ Equipment Crew #53 ▪█─────█▪

^that's solid advice.
When I was doing AM workouts I found it helped to have a little in my stomach as I woke up - something like a piece of toast and some cottage cheese.
I never had a problem with getting sufficiently warm, for me it was dragging ass and having my workouts last too long and having to cut things short because you always have a hard deadline in the morning. Are you sure it's a physical thing for you, is maybe a little mental as you adjust/wake up? Try popping an ammonia cap see if it helps.
I did enjoy it though from a "time efficacy" standpoint. But now I do prefer doing it after the kid goes to bed - no hard deadline, clears my mind before sleep, etc.Boomer Rep Crew #1

I'm in this boat too. Dragging myself out at 5:30 through the damn snow (no access to the garage from the house) starting to wear on me. Felt great after it was done but that hard stop always played havoc with me.
At nights now and the no hard stop is great. But a bit more trouble sleeping and feeling like I may try to go back to mornings to gain some more evening time back.
For me, I warmed up in the house with some dynamic stretching and movements for 10 minutes and then built my workouts back up to get the headspace/body right.▪[[────]]▪ York Barbell Club #65 ▪[[────]]▪

I workout in the evening and was having trouble sleeping. Told my super cool doc about it and he had me do a cortisol test taking samples at 6 AM, 11 AM, 4 PM and 9 PM. My cortisol was still high at 9 PM after my workout.
Doc told me to take some carbs (30g maltodextrin and dextrose) after my workout to cause an insulin spike. The insulin lowers cortisol. This has worked well and I am falling to sleep easier and sleeping better.▪█─────█▪ Equipment Crew #53 ▪█─────█▪

Much appreciated. It's been a hassle for sometime.
I believe this to be part of the case. But I would think my cortisol levels were also stress related or induced. Trying to combat that as well. Doesn't help that I start my workout at 9-9:30.Last edited by dragon360; 10-22-2014 at 12:20 PM.

I like the advice so far.
I'm one of those guys who likes to train on an empty stomach or maybe a protein shake (at the most) with the 16 oz. spaced throughout the session.
For me, the session starts the night before. I drink a pint of water or more before i go to bed. In bed before 2200. Depending how the day went, it may cause me to wake up once during the night. I get up at 0415, take care of elimination and get another pint of water down. If it was a rough night, a cup of black coffee, tazo Awake, or some c4 since i'm out of jack3d.
Then a few light passes of the major muscle groups being worked that day on the rumble roller (just enough to stimulate blood flow). Get outside and walk for 3-4 min. and then do four sets of sprint intervals, 5-7 s, with a 30 s rest in between at about 7-8 RPE. This WILL get your CNS firing. Then i go through the standard drills with traction and distraction of the hips and shoulders and a set of real planks* with 15 s holds (this is for the CNS again).
Everybody's different, but the major things you want to take from this is to hydrate starting the night before so you don't cramp, get the blood flowing, then fire your CNS with something like sprints, box jumps, and planks.
*By real planks, i'm meaning the kind that are an entire body contraction and someone over 200 lb can stand on your back.

that's the problem for me - it takes me 30-45 minutes to shake the cobwebs and then I gotta warm up a bit and often drag ass through a workout - it gets done, but too much down time. And then I gotta rush to get get myself and the kid ready.
Trying to incorporate some morning cardio now instead and get the lifting done at night.Boomer Rep Crew #1

I'm lucky in that I can take very long lunches and work out in the middle of the day. I find it helps break up those work days.
