    New to working out: Do squats make your butt bigger?

    Hi, I'm pretty new to working out. I've been squatting for a few weeks now and I've noticed that my butt is growing. I am a skinny guy, (still am) and I used to have no butt. Now my butt sticks out a little, though it's not to noticeable. If it does continue to grow, it won't really bother me either, I'm just curious if squats make your butt bigger? And will it keep growing?

    Your glutes will respond to weight training just like any muscle, so yes, they will grow, as will your legs. You aren't going to get some massive ghetto booty from it. It will be proportionate to the gains in your legs, and ideally your whole body.

    Oh, this thread is still on page 1... Thanks for the replies everyone. It doesn't bother me if my ass gets really big or not, I was just wondering how big it's actually going to get, as I was just a 16 year old, skinny guy who had no ass and suddenly got one that sticks out pretty noticeably in a matter of weeks.

    My brother has a pretty big butt and he doesn't even workout so I thought it may be my genes, but it's probably just the squats.

    Front squats still hit your glutes hard if you do them to full depth. It's the hamstrings, not the glutes, that get taken out of the equation.
