FYI: Patrick's abuser, Kisha Curtis of Newark, NJ, is free on bail pending the outcome of the court proceedings. She is unlikely to get any jail time as she does have children (including one born since Patrick was found), and has requested pre-trial intervention, which would reduce her sentence substantially and eventually wipe her record clean. Such is the seriousness with which the justice system treats 'mere possessions' like pets. And THAT is why we are all here- to change perception and change law.
