hey there. as far as the 335i goes, its a great car. many of my close friends have it. i was stuck between that or an e46 m3, and i went with the m3. i suggest you do the same. it is an absolute monster around the track with a near 9k rpm redline. the 335i is fast stock, but if speed is all u care about a simple 400 dollar tune raises the limiter and u push around 400hp. my friend has done that. stock for stock i have beaten many 335s in straight lines. around the track i will also demolish them. but once u rewire and chip, im screwed haha. if ur mind is set on 335 i say go with 08 because the first year had many problems, since it was the first year they made it. the turbos gave out, etc. if ur getting the 4 door, manual isnt really an option. but the automatic is quick regardless. if ur getting coupe, u MAY find a decent manual, but its not common. all in all, i think the m3 is better because its cheaper, nicer , and overall better haha. but it all depends on what u want the car for. i am an expert on bmw so if u have any questions let me know buddy

not me, I wish 10 grand short... Should of started working earlier in life 0.0
@op, I have a bmw 335i 07 in manual, coupe. Dont buy it, its dumb as ****. Cars dont mean **** man trust me. Its fun as hell to drive, dont get me wrong im always ripping it around.
The car doesnt get you sloots, people will call you spoiled if all your friends dont drive nice cars too(beware).
I've had no problems, they fixed the recall issue before I even had a problem. When you take your car into before service center, you might be dropping a pretty penny. Replaced the tires 2 years ago came out to like 2 grand. I honestly could of put a down payment if i was to lease a BMW with that service center visit. I own my 335i though.
You should only really use 93 octane in your 335i or the engine will knock and only the best oil.
Get a war jeep, bitches be mirin then. trust me MY next car will be one i can crash into **** and not care.
Any other questions on it, just pm me I had a 335i for 3 or 4 years lol.Last edited by SkitheEast; 09-18-2012 at 07:34 AM.

Strong bumpp...
Haven't logged in a few weeks cause of no interwebz, and thanks for the replies. Looking at most of the feedback that I got, I will definitely keep this thing on my top five.
I'm also looking at old maybe 04-05 g35 or STI ? <--- Thoughts on those car.
I still have like a year and half before I even consider getting a newer car. For now I'll continue driving my ranger. 312k miles and still going strong!

Idk, a lot better cars you can get for 335i price, I wouldn't spend all my money on a car, believe me I've made that mistake multiple times lol. It will be cool and fun for awhile then you will just get bored and want something else. Cars are complete money pits for the most part. At your age and not having any large income I'd get something cheap and reliable and save for your future. I'd also get a automatic. Unless its a weekend car you take out for fun automatics are much more practical. Sure manual's will be fun for awhile but eventually it will become a pain in the ass for everyday driving. Especially if you drive in a lot of stop and go traffic.

My dude listen, my parents do well for themselves and they got me a 5 series for my 18th. I had the option of an E92 but reasons why i didnt head that way
Before 09 the 335's had big HPFP problems, basically common 3k fixes for hoses
Insurance with a 17 year old with a TURBOD BMW... My cousins 19 clean record with 440 a month in NJ. 5k a year with his 335i
And don't say that BS like you'll have a clean record, thats a performance car, nobodys record will be clean on a turbod bimmer.
Lastly maintenance, you even check the costs on all the breaks rotors... an Oil change itself runs 150$ and I do it myself every 5k.
Also the 07 is the same bs at all but judging by that your parents want to cut the costs a little by going not "Base model" but a year model itself. Can't go cheap on 335i lol. Also the clutch on those babies (flywheel/pressure plates) and all can easily run you around 2k. Judging off a new driver you'll be smelling the clutch constantly.
Save yourself the $ and trouble and get a 4 door sedan 330xi or whatever.A simple hello can lead to a million different things.

m3 insurance/maintenance on a 17 year old - lol
Also manual not common on 335i? Automatic is an option for these sport cars. Manual is standard on a 335i
Don't listen to m3 man. Unless your down to either pay BMW for 10 hours worth of labor every 15k miles. I doubt you've picked up a wrench before, and the m3 is the ultimate enthusiast car in the bimmer world, it's probably not for you yet.A simple hello can lead to a million different things.

Don't worry, I know kids with Maseratis, Lamborghinis, and Ferraris.
One kid came to school without a learners license and had an F430, completely owned.
FOBs...
In marketing class, the teacher asked, "who is this ad aimed towards" and she showed a Lamborghini ad. Instantly a FOB states, "like, teenagers?"
Felt like curb stomping him.

Get ****ty fiesta and drive it...when sloots come to YOUR house put it in the garage
they mirin your house
Expensive cars are pointless when you've just started working...All friends who are older say they regret getting a nice car as soon as they started working cause took like 1-2 years longer to get a house
And as I know your going to be getting a car I'd suggest an Audi as I do like Audis more but Bmw's arn't a bad shout either especially the ones your looking at =DWhat's comical is that you genuinely believe that you know what you're talking about. - EricKanevskiy

It really isn't a big deal, people on this website told me a bunch of bs too when I was a teen and getting my 335i. It's fine, mine is an 07 they fixed the main issue before anything happened. Insurance is expensive, having it maintained is costly, and if you need it repaired. Basically if you have the money and want it, it's a fun car to drive. As far picking up sloots, sorry brah entry level bimmer is not a 200k car.
^ guy above, I hate when my turbos get loud in the city. People stare -.-..."you can't find the truth, you just pick the lie you like the best. as long as you know everything's a lie, you can't hurt yourself."
