Exclamation Staying motivated and energized for after work Workout

My biggest problem I would have to say is maintaining motivation to go to the gym. I really want to go to the gym. However when i get there i feel tired and end up halfassing sets or skipping workouts. What are some tips to be full of energy while hitting the gym after an 8 hour day? I would really appreciate peoples input. Since I would assume most of the members work around a busy schedule like myself. I want to be able to go through my entire workout without yawning. I guess motivation isn't a big deal for me. I want to do it but my energy level makes me lazy.

I have a similar problem. My work schedule is all over the place. My best workouts are before work by far. Often Im forced to work out after anywhere from 8-14 hours of a fairly physical job. Those work outs are never great.

What works for me is half a pot of coffee and a banana or two around an hour before my workout.

But really its a mental battle. You are either motivated enough to put up the weight with intensity or you are not. I cant say I always bring the intensity tho - sometimes you just gotta push and get it done regardless.

Nap before hitting the gym. Seriously it's underrated.

Even better, drink some coffee and take a nap right after. By the time you wake up the caffeine will hit. I do that if I know I can fall asleep right after I drink it.

I work nights and I usually am tired but I know if I don't do it then I will just feel depressed on it the whole day. But it's a nice solo time as well, wife is at work, kiddo is at school. I get some nice time to myself to just work out, it honestly is quite medatative as well.

The days when I just don't feel like it I will usually slam a Rockstar or Monster on my way there and commit myself to a small plan at the least. Always end up blowing past my small goal usually, but even if not I still did something.

Just hang in there, you'll get it.
Trying to get back to my old self PLUS improve it.

Getting back onto this train and not getting derailed again!

If you don't like PWO's you could try waking up early and working out before work. Thats what I usually do bc at the end of the workday the only motivation I have is to get home.
