Well I am currently finishing up what I am using right now which is Razor 8 by Allmax. I like to finish one before I start something new and ensure I give it time to see if it will work. My biggest problem with prework out products is that I find most of them have zero effect on me so as a result I have been making my own taking Xtend or Amminocore and beta-alanine pre and post workout and I throw in a caffine pill or two preworkout if I am down energy .
In my prep when I was really struggling for energy I picked up some Razor 8 to try which seems to help out a bit and I have been working my way through that. When I was explaining that to someone at the gym they really recommended I try C4 Extreme and when I was doing up my suppliment order needed something to put me over the limit to get free shipping so I decided to try it.
Be great to find a pre-workout that really works for me and is worth the money you pay."We all have great inner power. The power is self-faith. There's really an attitude to winning. You have to see yourself winning before you win. And you have to be hungry. You have to conquer."

At least when I first start using pre wo's during prep, I am pretty sensitive. But as I go along, its effects wear off. During my last prep, C4 had my revved up pretty good even towards the bitter end when I was jacked up on caffeine all day long. I think you will like.

* In other news, I finally gave in and called my physical therapist today. Its usually impossible to get an appointment with him on short notice but today must have been my lucky day. I shot out of work a bit early and headed over. He stretched me quite a bit, worked out some knots, adjusted me, etc. I do feel a bit better, but im not sure im ready to go. Im gonna try hitting legs tomorrow and see how I end up afterward. I really need to get my lower body back to 100 percent so I can hit it hard again."Who the Son sets free is free indeed....."

Yes, i saw him and i was hopefull last night at the time I was writing that I would wake up this morning feeling much better. But unfortunately that didnt happen. If anything I might feel a bit worse. I indicated to him that I felt like i had a tight ham and/or glute on my left side pulling my pelvis out of whack and causing all the other pelvic stabilizers to go nuts. He agreed that my left was tighter than my right and thought maybe the hamstring but also thought that I might be getting some pain referral from an L5 disk issue. Uuugh. So he stretched me like crazy hoping we could get it taken care of. Im still hopeful the cause is still simply muscular but now im wondering. Friggin sucks....im supposed to train legs tonight. Im majorly bummed bc it looks like ill be going light again and spending much of the time rolling and stretching.
Ill hit you up if I need anymore info from you about your guy....might take you up on it if another trip or two to Brownstone doesnt help me."Who the Son sets free is free indeed....."

Well I was feeling like Crap (still) but decided to hell with it....I'm gonna go train legs anyway and see what happens. I decided to switch things up a little in hopes of not hammering my spinal erectors and glutes too bad because that seems to be the muscles that are spasming the worst. I also lowered the intensity a bit and increased the volume. I am toying with the idea of going back to once per week leg training....at least for q while to allow some extra recovery.
Anyways, here is my nice and easy leg day.....my hips and back actually felt pretty good once I got rolling.

Yea.....just wish I wasnt listening to it say "ouch".
Good news though....I looked into getting some regular deep tissue massage at a place thats about 2 min from my house. My flex spending account requires a docs referral to use it so I went to him today....and surprisingly he wrote the referral. So my first appt for massage is sunday. Hopefully they have someone capable of grinding out REALLLY stubborn knots."Who the Son sets free is free indeed....."

IN other news.....my students have been working on this bus we call the "Green Machine" for some time now. Prior to this week it was only the "Green Machine" because it runs on straight waste vegetable oil and biodiesel. We spent much of last semester prepping it for paint and then shipped it off to have it sprayed. Well, we just got it back! We are going to put together a cool graphics package for it and finish installing the power invertor to run a windmill and solar panel for 110V accessories. Our goal is to take it around to the elementary schools and introduce kids to alternative energy.

I know how we're getting to Columbus this year!!! :
Pretty cool project. I'd love to be able to do stuff like that with my kids. Unfortunately they aren't as keen on being forced to do math, reading and writing. I'd like to see an teenager doing something they actually were really interested in for once. Must be cool.
Not school appropriate, but that thing reminds me of something you'd see Snoop Dogg and crew or a bunch of hippies rolling around in. The "green machine", lol. Don't know why I can't stop picturing that, haha.
Nice pressing too.Last edited by jked4life; 10-13-2012 at 06:50 AM.

Great job on the OHP PR!
Love the bus as well. It has to be rewarding to work with kids and do cool things like that!"We all have great inner power. The power is self-faith. There's really an attitude to winning. You have to see yourself winning before you win. And you have to be hungry. You have to conquer."

Yea man...love to take it c-bus, but unfortunately those pesky insurance regulations dont allow me to go outside monroe county. And something about only school business....blah, blah, blah. The good news is that I did buy a new (to me) suburban....diesel, of course, and ive been driving that all around on waste oil. A nice step up from the mercedes.
As far as the kids go....it is pretty cool to get a few kids really interested in the subject. Problem is that their experience is so little that its hard to do projects like this. Its a VERY slow process. But it is rewarding to see kids find something they latch onto and take an interest in besides video games and sleeping.
SOunds like id get along well with your science teacher. Actually just started experimenting with running waste motor oil in my mercedes. So far so good. Well see how that goes.
Thanks man. See below for my little recap on the massage.
Its a good job....definitely not without its moments but yea.
Ill try to get s'more rolling in the near future. Thanks."Who the Son sets free is free indeed....."

Sooo....this weekend has been my first at home in several weeks. Got some good projects done around the house, a little relaxation and my first try at deep tissue massage. I was reaaaaally hoping to report back and say that I am 100% and ready to hit the weights. And it was looking really good for about an hour post massage. I wasnt overly impressed with the guy's knowledge but he was pretty good at applying the right pressure needed to relieve the trigger points. And I was RIDDLED with triggers in my legs and back. He worked for a full hour and I stood up and was darn close to doing a little jig right there in the office because I felt so good. I got home and told my wife that I actually felt like an athlete again. It was darn close to 100% relief. Unfortunately, I sit here now about 5 hrs later and I think i have seized back up to about where I was before. Its sooo frustrating. Just aching pain running up and down my whole back....hips feel like they belong to the tin man. Im hoping that if I get in there a couple times next week it'll get me some where. UNfortunately at 80 bucks a pop, its gonna set my flex spend acct back a little....and at that price its really just not realistic as regular maintenance.
Anyways...that my massage report. In other news.....this was my manly project for yesterday. I dont know if I can call it manly because I was "softening" the water....but meh... Got this all installed and now we are free from the ridiculously hard mineral water we have here living in the village of Webster. It just KILLS all the faucets and water heater, etc.
.
And I posted this on my cellucor thread (with all my other food porn) but figured I would repost here bc its so awesomly awesome. Trader Joes Pumpkin Pancakes are da bomb diggity!! Not exactly diet macro friendly because the recipe calls for a lot of melted butter, but they taste sooooo good. Mixed up a batch with Cellucor's Vanilla Super Sport isolate and got a little more distance out of the batter.

Well, time for an update. Unfortunately not a lot to update......but ill vent a bit. Im frustrated and depressed, really. Been to the PT and the massage therapist a few times. Im foam rolling, stretching, cardio almost every day. My damn back still seems to be about the same though. I found a few triggers in my hamstrings that refer pain to my low back and I beat the crap out of those triggers but they simply wont release. Soooo frustrating. I can loosen enough to train and its not that bad during my normal day, im just stiff. But morning are ridiculous though....lots of pain and stiffness. I know if I go back to heavy training it will be bad so ive been doing some candy ass leg workout for the past 3 weeks....going on my 4th tomorrow. Lighter hacks, extensions, curls, etc. I dont feel like ive ever been in this limbo spot where my back is messed up and not improving at all for weeks on end. All I want to do is train heavy and im being derailed. Anyways.....crappy update, but i figure a blog should not only be about the good times, but the bad too. And this one is particulary bad.

These types of setbacks are never fun. I can sympathize as I've had a lot of trouble with injuries over the past two years.
Remember that it's a marathon and persistence and patience will pay off. Take that time to heal up and focus that extra time on releasing those nasty spots. I particularly like the lax ball and a softball for the hips/glutes. Some of the things that have helped me with the hips have been wearing flat shoes all day (heeled shoes were causing my back to sieze), rolling first thing in the AM, hip flexor stretching first thing in the AM, and softball right to the hips right out of the shower in the morning. As much as I've hated to take time to rehab and go light, it's always lead to lifetime PR's once I've gotten back in action.
While you're rehabbing, maybe do some extra occlusion/bloodflow restriction training? I know you've done some of that, but now seems like the perfect time to really get up on that.
Hang in there man.

I think we're having the same back issues Sean, I wake up first thing in the morning stiff as a board, and anytime I bend over to touch my toes it feels like I'm pushing through concrete.
Heading to the Osteopath next weekend for some dry needling on any trigger points she finds.
I've also started to stretch the following
quadratus lumborum - http://www.floota.com/QuadratusLumborumStretch1.html
psoas - http://www.floota.com/PsoasStretch1.html
General hips, glutes etc.
I've also got to stop sitting down so much, and deload my back, which is essentially just lying down on the floor with my feet elevated as much as I can.
Probably a long road to recovery... At least I can bench heavy!

Thanks Billy....things are starting to turn around. I appreciate the support.
Yea man...im not givin up, that for sure. Ive got plan to get back at it ASAP.
Thanks for the advices, Matt. Been doing a lot of that stuff, actually....early morning stretches and rolling along with that softball to the hip flexors and glutes. All good stuff that does help. Just havent found "THE" fix for this one yet. But I will. I hope you are still planning for saturday. Will be good to see you.
Thanks for the links man! Extra stretches for the QL and the psoas are always a good thing. Two really tough spots.....and two of my big trouble spots. Good stuff."Who the Son sets free is free indeed....."

Well, I have decided that enough is enough. Ive been delaying the start of a new program due to my back issues but ive decided to forge ahead and get into some Juggernaut. I settled on juggernaut because the intensity is pretty low to start out which will hopefully buy me some more time to get my hips and back into shape. Things have been improving slightly so its promising that ill be back into shape pretty soon to train heavy.
So heres how my loose interpretation of Juggernaut looked today:
CARDIO X 10 min.
BENCH
175 X 10
175 X 10
175 X 10
175 X 10
175 X 12
WIDE GRIP PULL UPS
BW X 10
BW X 10
BW X 10
MACHINE LATERAL RAISE
125 X 10
125 X 10
125 X 12
