I see a lot of you armchair politicians in here saying this and that needs to be done. If you were running things in the United States, what would you do to make it better? Would you attempt to expand the power of the government or make it smaller?

Eliminating majority of government employees and replacing them to start. And especially ridding the federal reserve.
Hell most people don't even realize we're facing a coup d'etat to begin with. Guess they deserve it for being so stupid and occupied with T.V. entertainment.أشهد أن لا إله إلاَّ الله Ùˆ أشهد أن Ù…Øمد رسول الله

I'd do my best to reform campaign financing, lobbying and get rid of many current congressman. Then start privatizing many government jobs until we're down to safety oversight (I like the FDA, EPA etc), police/fireman/military and infrastructure but somehow fix those crazy construction contracts that last 100% longer and cost 100% more than the original bid.
That's if I were allowed to do those things, if I just became the president I would try to pass a bunch of bills that eventually became dead in either the House or the Senate so essentially nothing would get done until my party wins the majority in both.
Maybe try to make a "Moderate" party so we have 3 parties and force the 3 party system.Life is easy when you take personal responsibility

add decentralized principles where possible.
other than that... idk, force the govt politicians to use the same healthcare system that every other American uses. If you decide it, you should be affected by it.
centralization... the downfall of.... ah fck it, that idea is fckin terrible in every sense in governing. federalists sh!t your pants, i'll never like you or your ideas.. and I'm one of the new political wave.. you know the one I'm talkinWe need systems approach to government, no longer partisan patchwork

1) Legalize drugs and sell them for rediculously cheap prices to anyone who wants them (think $10 for an ounce of marijuana, gram of *******, etc.). After that, release all prisoners/offenders from all jails/prisons who are inside for drug related charges (exluding big-time dealing).
2) Abolish the FED, FDA, and many other useless/harmful agencies.
3) Add a socialistic justice system, get rid of pay-for-defense lawyers. And then raise the performance bar/salary for becoming a lawyer.
4) Raise the performance bar drastically/salaries for police officers/FBI.
5) Get rid of most the congress and bar them from politics for life.
6) Socialize healthcare and college completely. No private profit is allowed to be made from these universal services.
7th and probably the most important...
7) Raise the performance/requirement bar drastically for teachers. Also increase their salaries and reform schools entirely with new rules/regulations.

um, why not just let the private companies set the prices. No way could you grow weed for that cheap and transport it, have a store, pay taxes, etc.
-End Super PACs
-Limits on campaign donations
-Limits on the amount of money that can be spent on each race
-Me, as President, would do the British thing and have to go to Congress and defend myself every week or two
-Eliminate the death penalty because it's too expensive
-Reform the prison system to rehabilitate criminals and give them career opportunities once they are released. Cheaper to pay more once than to save some money and pay for them again and again and again (not the rapists, murderers, and like, they can stay in prison forever)
-Fund public schools a lot more; get rid of tenure; cut down administrative costs; allow for high school selection not based on where one lives (but not force it either)
-Get out of the Middle East within the next 2-3 years. They need to hold their own; we can't be there forever.
-Make community service compulsory for anyone receiving unemployment
-Allow for lifetime support of the disabled (any one you love might be disabled or give birth to a child who is. We live in such a rich country, if we cannot support those how don't have the means to support themselves, what does that say about us?)
-Pay for preventative health care costs where it is economically reasonable (as in, if it were determined that we would save money by giving out a certain medication instead of paying for the results of not doing so, we should do the cost-effective thing)
edit:
-legalize marijuana and psychedelics without hesitation. Decriminalize all drug use.
OR
-leave the system the way it is and take all the kickback money.Last edited by SuburbanLegend; 09-07-2012 at 04:01 PM.

If I had complete control and the ability to make instant changes.. maybe a few things that I believe are generally agreed to be desirable, mainly social issues (gay marriage, legalize marijuana, etc). Then, step down handing the position over to someone more qualified, recognizing that I would mess things up bad as I'm no politician.

Some of the suggestions in this thread are mind blowing and would hurt our country more then help... not sure if you *******s are serious or trolling.
Isolationism would be my biggest policy. I wouldn't necessary withdraw from NATO/U.N., but all foreign aid to other countries would be done with. All the extra money would be put towards the problems in our own country. Not an expert, so not sure how exactly to accomplish this, but I'd give substantial incentives to companies that keep all their factories in the states. Complete opposite against companies that go overseas.
And not sure if this is even possible, but I'd try real hard to get rid of illegals. Get the fhck outta of our country you scum.*Certified ****head Crew*

* Abolish Congress and the presidency. Judges will be elected directly by the people. Transform America into a direct democracy.
* Legalize all drugs and end the war on drugs
* Legalize federal same sex marriage law, along with federal anti-discrimination law, etc.
* End the war in Afghanistan, cut off diplomatic relations with Saudi Arabia and Pakistan, recognize Palestine as a state, establish relations with Cuba and end the embargo, close down Guantanamo, abolish the Patriot Act and NDAA.
* Establish a universal single payer healthcare system along with universal education in college and preschool.
* Lower the drinking age to 18 years old and the voting age to 16 years old.
* Abolish the death penalty
* Pass constitutional amendment overturning Citizens United ruling and establish money isn't free speech.
* Reinstate Glass-Steagal Act
* Establish access to internet as a universal right.

1. Balance the budget and ensure that a balanced budget amendment is passed. Slash a lot of the useless crap our government wastes it's money on, no government venture capitalism, scale back entitlements, the military, whatever it takes.
2. Pass a constitutional amendment that limits service to two terms in any elected position.
3. Get the money out of Washington. No more lobbies, corporate/university/etc campaign donations. We have to combat corruption.
4. Limit access to government assistance programs. Help people who need it, but there are limits. If you have money to smoke or buy an iphone, you're getting too much from the government. These programs should cover basic living essentials only.
5. Oversee development of more nuclear power and domestic fossil fuels to help us become energy independent.
6. Secure our borders. Deport all people who are here illegally. If you want back in, stand in line. Pass a constitutional amendment that if you are born in this country to parents who are here illegally, you do not automatically become a US citizen. Illegal immigrants should not have access to public education.
7. Get rid of income tax and move to a consumption based tax.
8. Education reform. Right now it costs too much and we get crap results. Allow school choice to force competition and raise the quality of education.
9. Legalize drugs. Legal drinking/drug purchase age is 18. Less stupid laws: I don't need to be told what to eat, what to drink, what to smoke, what kind of light bulbs I can use, what kind of car to drive....
10. Health care reform. Repeal Obamacare and pass legislation that attacks malpractice and allows for interstate competition.
LOL... stopped reading there. I guess you also plan to wipe your ass with the constitution?Last edited by MrTeal; 09-08-2012 at 06:07 AM.

from reading the responses in this thread it is obvious that even age 24 is too low of an age to be able to vote.
We had a depression due to irrational exuberance in the financial system and yet the solutions proposed in this thread is freedom and liberty herp derp!
Yes, lets just sprinkle some magical pixie dust, that will fix everything.

Some of this -- mostly I would reduce a lot of business regulation such as cost of licensing and start up and I'd revamp the entire trademark/patent office.
I would get rid of several worthless government sectors like EPA, Education, the federal Reserve, a significant modification to the FDA to force them into what they're actually suppose to do not what they aren't suppose to do.
