9. A few days. If they had the capacity for 100 machines they would've bought at least some of those far sooner. Obviously they dont have the electrical/supplies/labor/demand requirements to run much more than 5 machines without a deadweight loss.

And for those wondering, the question is worded such that all 5 machines work together over the course of 5 minutes to make 5 widgets. Like an assembly line.

100/5 = 20 groups of machines each one making 5 widgets every 5 minutes.

All work seperately. So 5 minutes.

Answer is 5 minute, as long as machine to widgets is 1:1 the time is constant....

So it takes 1 machine 5 minutes to produce 1 part

5 machines 5 minutes 5 parts

10 machines 5 minutes 10 parts

100 machines 5 minutes 100 parts
