Perhaps we all lift for girls, even if we don't know it. Maybe everything we do is ultimately to get laid, whether it be increasing social value through employment or making your physique better. Its all subconscious. So in that case there are only 2 types of lifters, those who consciously lift for girls, and those who subconsciously do. Then there's everything in between.

yes but then you are lifting for confidence and not for girls (confidence is a legitimate reason). The confidence boost for most guys wont even be that much, it's not enough to get over anxiety or social fear for example. It's just like a cherry on top.

Eh. I didn't start lifting for girls, or self confidence, or because of insecurities. I started lifting because this is my sport. And I want to win.

I understand I'm nowhere near where I need to be. I'm a good 120+ lbs too light. But I'll get there, eventually. And for my ultimate goal, to be that huge, to win Mr. Olympia, no girl finds that attractive, everyone says they look like freaks, and they do. But I don't care. Like I said, I got into this sport last December, and I want to win.

People need the kickstart of a good body though. When people see you've changed and compliment you your confidence sky rockets. Your body image is just lighting the fuse (sorry for the horrible pun) if you get what I mean.

You can't go from being down in the dumps and obese to just suddenly have game and pull bishes, right? It seems futile. Your mind just needs that little push in the right direction.

This is all in my personal experience though, so fkknows, I used to be 100kg+ when I was 17 then lost 15kg and it made me feel really good, I could approach people etc.

Just some examples off the top of my head

Talking to a girl, it's blah, no real interest seen. She tells me it's hot out. I say "yeah you smell like sweat" and continue talking to her friend, bam she gets right in my face "NO I DONT SMELL! HERE SMELL ME I DONT SMELL"

Girl I approached today in the bookstore. When I started talking she was like wtf does this kid want? Then the longer I was with her the more interest she showed until she basically implied she wouldn't give me her number because she didn't want to cheat on her boyfriend

looks = 10-20%. Behavior exhibiting high status = most of the rest

Looks do play a role, especially for alot of girls that you meet. Whether it be muscularity, facial aesthetics or the whole package; They will never admit it but alot of girls examine you before you even make that approach. No woman will EVER approach an obese/fat guy, as that may be common sense but it's still besides the fact. When a girl decides she'll give you the opportunity to talk to her or visa versa, she already knows whether or not she's going to give it up to you whether it be a week from then or a year from then, she knows.. Trust me. It all builds down to personality if you want that genuine woman, but self-confidence and a decent looking physique is always more than enough to get her to give you her number.
