NO RULES, NO BS, NO competition, NO Spreadsheet! Join in ANYTIME. Just get to work and drop that damn lard!
In my experience, whenever there's a spreadsheet involved, and people don't see changes quickly, they drop out. Cut at YOUR OWN PACE! Use the progress pics for motivation!
And please keep this thread civil! We're all here with the same goal, so let's help each other out!
And if you don't want to post a pic, obviously that's your decision, but at least take and keep pics for your own record. I can say unequivocally that progress pics helped me BIG TIME with my progress, and kept me on track.
Also, let's do a monthly weigh-in with pics, side by side. So on Oct 1st, there should be two pics side by side (same pose, same size picture) - and obviously in the end, there will be 4 pictures. This way you can see how your body has changed gradually month by month.
For many of us, we will keep cutting beyond Dec 1st, but I personally think many MINI GOALS help keep us all sane rather than one BIG goal.
Let's go!
1) Set mini goals. (Forget how many lbs you want to drop by Dec, start with Sept and adjust from there!)
2) Figure out your CALORIC deficit (typically -500 calories daily depending on your own specific needs)
3) Macros - figure them out!
4) Plan out your weekly work outs now, and stick to it!
5) USE this thread to chat about your journey! Give each other advice along the way! Keep each other MOTIVATED!
6) Kick ass! Even if you're not losing as much weight as you'd like, don't stop! Weight loss isn't necessarily linear, so who knows, you might trigger something along the way that works and lose all the weight in the last month!
OK- so IF/LeanGains got me down to about 11%BF last year, but with my crazy work schedule & school, I've basically COMPLETELY stopped cutting, and let myself get back up to about 18+% BF.
here's my IF thread. http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showth...hp?t=135779601
At 165lbs now, I'm going to start this up again and do this properly until I finally hit 10%BF or under.
Dec 1st is the goal! Anybody want to do this with me? THREE months! Try to post a before pic and update pics every 1st of the month - it will only help! Let's go!
Aug 31st: 165lbs, about 18%BF

I'm in, went for my physical yesterday and I'm just plain huge. Starting at 286, I'm gonna need a little food and a lot of luck.

I honestly haven't kept up with most of the reading, but when I dropped the fat last year, I was following Martin's leangains approach, but my own window was 18/6 (fast/feed), only because it fit my life style easier. IF isn't magic, but it kept me satiated with the bigger meals - so that I thought way less about binging. Plus I SERIOUSLY HATED eating 5-6 smaller meals/day.

i'm unofficially in. at 151 lbs now, aiming for 135, which may or may not take longer/shorter/whatever. plan is to finally get at least to 12% before bulking slowly for a change. that's the plan, anyway.
Steve, haven't forgot about your great transformation, you're doing great. unless you've stopped going to the gym, you've still progressed and likely added a couple lbs of muscle.Powerlifter convert. Follow on instagram Sharpie_bendingbarbells

Thanks bro..i remember your posts too. Keep on trucking man- we're both on the quest to cut and bulk properly! You've come a long way, and I think you have way more muscle than me so 12% will look badass on you. The sad thing is that I have stopped going to the gym - I went back to school and tried balancing that with work plus a few side projects, so I was lucky to have gotten maybe 6 hours of sleep a night.
Things are looking better now, so I'm going to go in 100%.2011:

i think we both have respectable levels of mass (considering we're still BBing noobs) for our sizes. i really think my legs have gotten some of the best growth this past year and can't wait to see how they (as well as the mirror muscles lol) start looking when i get really lean again...every few months i get better and better at being more disciplined and dedicated. willpower has only grown.
and that's a shame about your personal life having to interfere, but muscle memory is a great thing and it's likely this time will go smoother for you. it only gets easier with experience. and most of all i feel you on the sleep thing! in my work i often train right before or right after a 12 hour shift...typically with only 5 hours of sleep depending on what part of the rotating shift i'm on lmao. twice this past week i've had 24 hour days where i've worked out right before shift, go on duty, get off duty and go straight to the gym and them i'm out like a light. but i always get my scheduled lifting days in, save for extreme circumstances.Powerlifter convert. thanks man...and I agree, will power is definitely the biggest thing for all of us. It's such a mental game - and I hope the muscle memory remembers all the hard work I've put in last year lol. Sounds like you got the discipline part down to a tee, if you're that dedicated to work 12 hours and still hit the gym! Good job man!
