    Can 2500 calories make me gain a pound a week?

    Im 135 pounds and was wondering if this was enough to gain weight?


    Big bowl of froot loops in the morning + fruits = 400 calories

    Protein bar/Snacks during/between classes = 200 extra calories

    Lunch after classes(2 quarter pound beef burgers with tomatoes and salad + 230 calorie bag of barbecue chips + 200 calories in soda/powerade) = 1200 calories

    Another snack = 200 calories

    Dinner(sandwiches + milk) = 500 calories

    If your metabolism and workout burn 2,000 calories a day, then yes, 2,500 would get you about a pound a week...... It's about surplus, not a start number.....

    Firstly, giving us your food plan with the specific names of each food you eat doesn't really matter. It'd be much more helpful if you post how many calories you eat per day (which you've done), as well as how many grams of protein, carbohydrates and fats you eat as well. That's just a tip for the future though.

    Is 2,500kcal enough for you to gain a pound a week? Only time will tell I'm afraid. Monitor your weight (weigh yourself roughly at the same time each day for accurate measurements) and see how much the scale shifts each week. If there's no/little change, up your calories slightly. If you're gaining weight too fast, scale back on your calories.

    Personally I'd go for more then that....if you are trying to gain weight, why not eat bigger meals/snacks, and I wouldn't try to gain calories through soda, that's me personally though.

    We really can't tell you that because we don't know your maintenance. Anyway count your calories for 1 week and if you gain weight then stick with it if you don't gain weight then increase the calories slightly.
