Eggs and Egg Yolks: Good or Bad?

Yes, heard both sides to the story over and over. Some people say 1 egg a day is too much, others say 3 eggs a day isn't much at all. Depending on how you start a Google search on eggs, you can find results/articles that can argue both sides. For example,

    Pros:
-High in protein, calcium, omega-3-fatty acids
    -HGL/good cholesterol
-Can help protect against heart disease
    -Good for teeth/bone health
-Can help prevent breast cancer/good source of Vitamin A and D
    -Etc.

    Cons:
-Can contribute to high blood pressure
    -Can contribute to diabetes
    -LDL/bad cholesterol
    -Can contribute to heart disease/artery-problems
    -Etc.

I'm sure the answer is it depends, but any opinion one way or another from personal experience?

blood cholesterol isn't directly influenced by cholesterol in food.

Thanks. If I'm going just for taste/proteins, I'll eat eggs all day. Just heard so much backlash against eggs and health risks for eating 1-3 per day.

There isn't a very substantial amount of protein in eggs. I would suggest going for a more direct source if you're looking for protein.

roughly 5g for a medium egg. 60 calories.

Exactly. One egg is 50-60 grams. Protein content of around 10%. There are a lot of foods which have a way higher percentage of protein. So I certainly agree with Erik. It's better to eat them for the fats, selenium, vitamin B2, and choline.

Could never understand why anyone would like "runny" eggs. It's almost like it's a "sauce" of egg, would just make me feel uneasy.. to eat it.

IMO the only real ways to eat eggs..
    - Hardboiled
    - Egg Sammiches (Cooked on both sides with skillet)
    - Coconut oil Egg fried rice with brown rice

plus, if you want the protein, but not all of the fat, ditch some of the yolks.

Eggs is one of my main foods!

If you are making scrambled eggs you can pretty much put anything else in there and still make it taste good, onions, garlic, mushrooms, etc, etc.

I recently tried scrambled eggs with mackerel. They are delicious. Just add canned mackerel to you eggs and scramble and add herbs to taste. Delicious. High protein, high omega 3's, all the way.

    Pros:
-High in protein, calcium, omega-3-fatty acids
    -HGL/good cholesterol
-Can help protect against heart disease
    -Good for teeth/bone health
-Can help prevent breast cancer/good source of Vitamin A and D
    -Etc.

    Cons:
-Can contribute to high blood pressure
    -Can contribute to diabetes
    -LDL/bad cholesterol
    -Can contribute to heart disease/artery-problems
    -Etc.

I'm sure the answer is it depends, but any opinion one way or another from personal experience?
Your "cons" are a little perplexing. Most ofthem should be changed and turned to pro's. I actually don't really think any of those cons are true. Genetically my cholesterol runs
a little high (yes even on low fat and lot cholesterol diets) I use a boat load of greens, and exercise to keep my bp and cholesterol levels good and I also eat 10-12 eggs.

I give eggs a huge credit to jacking up my HDL and LOWERING cholesterol. I also don't believe adn see no evidence eggs contribute to diabetes. Actually seeing that you are
eating well rounded diet I don't see any of your cons being true...

How many times has this forum discussed this topic lol? I gotta say, though, that every time we discuss eggs, I can't help but crave a massive serving. I eat tons of eggs and my triglyceride levels are low- eat up!
