Oh trust me i know. I love technical stuff and its fun to challenge myself but i definitely agree. I am in a band and we are a tech death band but we focus on melody over everything. This isnt all i do, as i said it was just a display of technique/composition and its just a solo from a song im writing. I play a little bit of everything.

Wish I could pull off some sweep picking and taping like the OP. I have been playing for 14 years and still cant sweep or shred worth a dam......BUT I think I am a great rhythm guitarest. I really like to play Randy Roads' stuff dude was a machine! but I cant play Dream Theater or anything that requires shredding

Dude the fuk are you smoking? How does posting one clip mean i cant write a song. I am a very solid rhythm player and i might shred but that does not in any way mean i cant compose something with emotion or write a melody. You have seen one thing i have done and its a 40 second clip out of a 7 minute song.

THat's already been happening for a couple pages...
Sure, there is a lot of aspects of guitar playing. I doubt that most guitarists can excel at every style and that doesn't make them bad players. OP has impressive lead playing chops. If he's able to take that and create something worth listening to than he's a good player IMHO. He doesn't need to be good at every style; clean, lead, rhythm, blues, shred, jazz, metal, etc. to be a "good player" IMHO. But yes, obviously the bigger your repertoire of skills is and more things you can play, the better guitarist you are.Aesthetic Glutes Crew

I never said you couldn't write a song. I am basing my opinion on the fact that you think some generic shredding makes you the best guitarist out of the thousands we have here. Yeah, you have great chops. I've already said that. I commend you for that. But if you'd spent a little less time woodshedding with the metronome and actually learned basic techniques like bednign and vibrato you'd actually be a MUSICIAN. That's all I'm saying. It's not too late, of course, but with your arrogant bullheaded attitude I doubt you'll ever really get there.
No, maybe not to be "good." But I specifically used the word great. Pedantic difference, maybe, but whatever. Anyone can shred by wasting hours with a metronome. That's not what makes you a great guitar player and certainly doesn't make you a master or anything worthy of the arrogance displayed by the OP.

I respect your skill and acknowledge that your technique is excellent but absolutely hate that style of playing. It's too mathematical for my liking. I too play guitar, and am better than most of my peers, but I prefer someone like John Frusciante. You're awesome at what you do though, keep it up.

Ive never used a metronome and im not trying to be arrogant. I dont sit around shredding all day either. I intend to try and improve my vibrato and other techniques and i even agreed with your first post. I do however think youre a fuking chode for negging me for calling out people who dont even have an avi who were trash talking my playing when they havent posted anything alluding to the fact they can do any better. The goal is to be a great musician and i think anyone who has ever played an instrumwnt can agree with that.
