Are you freezing when you squat clean power clean or both?
Squat clean-- Have you tried some high hangs teaches the speed and momentum for the pull under? You should be using that pull to get under the bar. unless you are
Power clean- Fast elbows and not having a death grip so they can rotate around super fast and high
Awesome Congrats!! Beef Jerky makes good road food too! Those progression posters are pretty cool to look at.

Love the dresses, Jani! I swear I had a dress/tunic thingy made out of the *exact same fabric* as the top one back in the 90s. I had read recently somewhere that those daisy prints were super trendy/popular this year again. Too cute.
I'm not sure I can be your friend anymore what with your repudiating goat cheese though. j/k

Daisies are definitely in, I see them everywhere. They're my fave flower so I keep waiting for that perfect something that will fit me right and look cute....maybe someday.
But back to how cute Jani looks in her dresses! Love them! And the thought of peach butter on an English muffin! yum!MFP: mkjbarreto

Thanks Woody. I have been working hard. I got a goal to hit!
Goats are so funny. I mean they really are. TOo bad hubs can't stand them!!
Thanks DM! I agree that we both won. And I will be back to tracking tomorrow! I didn't do bad on vacation, but I felt better when I was tracking!
It is on both power and squat cleans. I can pinpoint win time where it went wrong. I had to things happen within short order of each other in my life that caused me to lose my self confidence. I mean lose it. It is coming back. Dead hang cleans have helped a lot as well as getting myself back together mentally.
The peach butter is slightly thinner than applesauce. It turned out really well. You could make it chunky if you wanted to. i was just lazy that threw that chit in the blender! LOL!
I won't mess with your PB if you don't mess with mine!
lol'ed at the donkey shuffling thru a wedding. Our dog took a chit behind us during our vows, and hubs friend sank their truck in a spring during the reception. Track pull baby. Thank heavens for John Deere.
We had a great vacation Lori! It was nice to get away.
Hey BSG! Thanks for stopping by! At least I am not the only one who should lay off the sauce.
The daisies do seem to be everywhere.
I understand about the goat cheese. I think there are some peeps who like it and some that don't.
And I even make sourdough english muffins that rock my world!
Geek you are too kind. You made my day.
On the squats, I go back to a vid Joel posted I think back in Nov for me. The best thing I have found is to grab a pole and squat down and do my best to get me back ram rod straight! It is uncomfortable but it seems to be helping a lot!!Spoon Barbell Club

2 workouts to record. But first a vacation picture. We went to Canyon Lake to see my parents. There were all these deer running around. I swear they were like porch dogs. This one was trying to dig in their trash can. It then was nice enough to hang around for the kids to pet and it even licked me. Strange deer for sure.
So I went to the gym early Monday morning before we headed out. Things went well but I have no math or loading skills early in the am. Was supposed to do 3 CJ singles at 46 but only loaded 45. Oh well. I nailed them!
Snatch
2x25,28,2x30,33,35,5 singles at 37
CJ
37,39,41,43,3 singles at 45
FS
3x45,3x3x49
Then today I wanted to hit the 3 singles on CJ at 48 that was supposed to happen last week. i will say dead hang cleans are helping me a lot with my freezing. Also, my FS were a world better today. Way more upright.
CJ
DHC bar, 25,35
38,40,43 F got on my toes in the hole, 43,45,5 singles at 48 BOOM! volume PR on that one
FS
5x3x49
Bench in #
10x45,8x65,8x75,3x5x85
I was so happy! My CJ PR is 52. Next week is 3 singles at 50. Bitches I am gonna hit that 100 total and soon!Spoon Barbell Club

Yes, hubs thinks there is something very wrong with the deer there!!
It has taken me years but I am finally getting the hang of working with sourdough! YAY!!
I do Olympic lifting. Here is a vid of each of the lifts. The first one is a snatch and the second is the clean and jerk. The clean is from the floor to shoulders, the jerk from shoulder to overhead. So I do mostly these, front squats (FS), and back squats (BS).
That and the other thing to note is all weights unless otherwise stated are in kilos not #.
Easy Monday session

Thanks Mei! I finally feel that I am gonna get there. Sometimes, believing in yourself is really hard. But I am getting there!
Thanks BoB! Nice to have you! If you go back a ways in this journal, my first coach put a lot of effort into coaching me and he left some seriously good gems.
Yes Geek, I am already registered for The Copperhead on Oct the 11tha and 12th at The Barn. Same venue as last time. I lift Sat the 11th. It is 10 weeks from this weekend! Can't believe it is that close. But I am pretty certain I can qualify. My FS have come ALONG way in the last 6 months and I am building better strength and confidence under the bar. For example, last fall when I went to Houston and met Steve, Joel's friend he had me do dead hang cleans at 25K. I swear I thought I was gonna die. I left with bruises the size of my palms on my thighs. On Sat I did dead hang cleans with warm up and a triple at 35K was a breeze. Feel pretty certain I could DHC at least 40K easy.
Glad you like the vid. That pole stretch has helped me so much. I have spent the last 7 months working on hip flexibility to try to fix the upright issue and that has not fixed it. But that pole stretch is helping!Spoon Barbell Club

No I did not know that, but that is really cool. Steve trains out of the MetroFlex so that is where we met up.
It was really cool. Sydney was shocked that the fuzzy antlers were actually fuzzy! I am excited to compete again. I had so much fun the last time. And I am hoping some of the same ladies will show up. It was really cool to meet other older Olylifters, esp women.

No it isn't weird. Jersey's are the sweetest cows EVER! Those big brown eyes get me everytime!
What is it Steve used to say to me, lower, faster! Speed under the bar!
Joel/ NorwichGrad was my first coach. He is a totally awesome man with a huge heart. Currently I am coached by Charis Louca. He coached Clint Dardin. And I really like him a lot. He has been VERY patient with me and has fixed my snatch looping problem and my pull lines.Spoon Barbell Club

Both the banging and letting get in front of me. Loose arms and a straight pull line have helped. Plus stay over the bar!! Good luck on the volume PR! You got it. Will be in for updates. Right now we are working on getting lots of volume under my belt. Have had major mental freeze issues on my cleans that we are trying to overcome.

Thanks, yeah it's funny once I started understanding staying over the bar as long as possible the snatch became so much more fluid. I felt like that one cue helped me so much with my form. When I first started snatches were the hard thing, then they became easy and cleans felt hard, it's like one or the other haha. Mental issues are huge with weightlifting, it's scary how easy it is to psych yourself right out of a lift when the strength and technique is there.

I feel like that alot. I improve on one or the other, never both at the same time. Stay over the bar and keep pulling/extend are big ones for me. And yes, you can psych yourself out bad on a platform. And when I do it I freeze and once I do it once I may as well just step off the platform cause the day is done.
