Always a pleasure, JJ! Tell your husband to keep all scrap wood..
The drawings I sent you does not include the plan to keep the low blocks from jumping out, like you saw in my vid with the first prototype. He will need some scrap wood to tighten things up. I will send pictures when he gets to that point..
I am 100% confident yours will be just fine.. My low blocks do not start to jump until I hit around 90-kg..This above all..

We will see when the blocks get built. I think he bought all the stuff for them. Do you like your new step up ones?
Thanks Tamara!
1:30! Come on by!
Okay, I don't have much to say. Training is going. It is mostly lower weight squats. Trying to fix my butt up first problem. I hit a power snatch PR. But mostly it is just go, do what is on the sheet and leave. So instead of posting my workouts I have 2 gym bro stories to tell and a motivational vid to share.
I WL for ME.
Gym Bro story #1
So a few weeks ago Lisa was at Worlds. This guy comes by looking at the gym. I help give him the our gym rocks story. He comes back and joins! YAY! We like new members. So a few days later I am in there squatting. New gym bro comes up to me and asks where the manpons are. (Manpons are those foam things people put on the squat bar to pad their backs. Danny used to ask if your gloves and manpon matched your purse. ) Anyway, I find one for gym bro and go back to squatting. A few minutes later I realize he has set up in the benching spot. With the manpon on the bar. I am like WTF is he gonna do with this? Sure enough he starts benching. Coach got a huge laugh out of it cause gym bro is over there literally bouncing that bar off his chest. He has found a way to do chest compression on himself. Mind was slightly blown.
Gym Bro story #2
Yesterday I was in doing singles day. Have not had a great singles day since my 100 day. But what ever. Lisa went to Dallas for the weekend so I am all Hi to everyone who walks in. So this gym bro shows up. I say hi and go back to my chit. Gym bro goes over to the DL platform. He gets the DL dolly. Now, gym bro never stretches. He never warms up. He loads the bar that always has the 135 on it on the dolly. He proceeds to put 295 on the bar. I am like WTF! He must be gonna max like 475-500. Chit. Gym bro does I think maybe 3 singles with 295. Barley getting them up with a horrible hitch. But he manages. He then loads 315 on the bar. I am like, warm up must be done. He gets 315 to his mid shin and fail. So, I guess we can now call him Dos Equis Man. I don't always warm up, but when I do I do it with my max bro. I was just like okay. WTF? Mind was really blown on that one.
Who teaches these people this stuff? I got nothing on it.Spoon Barbell Club

Yes, East Texas breeds geniuses let me tell you! Now I am all half curious about this herniated angus. But maybe not enough to go search! LOL!
Lisa and I were wondering if he is maybe working up to board presses, but not sure. Maybe?? I do want to put a lovely smile on and ask about it though. But I don't think I can keep a straight face and do it.Spoon Barbell Club

Mike please feel free to come by and do some educating for us!
I am going to Dallas this afternoon to train with Richard Flemming. He coached Chad Vaughn to the Olympics. I have gone and seen him before. he is a really cool guy. We are going to work on the snatch 1st pull cause it keeps getting in front of me. I am also working on being able to go train with some girls from Spoon next month who are going to the Open.Spoon Barbell Club

THanks for coming by! Now I feel bad for not logging a workout in forever! LOL! Will log one sometime soon!
It was amusing. When DL boy put 315 on for rack pulls I had to leave though.
I will have a fun day!!
Will do Joel! He is really cool. He was impressed with how I am coming along on my squats and was like if we can tweak this snatch pull you will catch it in the right place not 2 inches forward! Will try and get vids.Spoon Barbell Club

Hey everyone! I Hope you guys had a great Thanksgiving. Ours went ok. Hubs brother and his family and his mom came so it was slightly crazy but we made it through.
The trip to Dallas went well. I met Richard up at a CF gym in Dallas. The first thing we worked on was my snatch. We started with pulling off blocks doing triples. I am getting behind the bar too early and not holding that forward position long enough and not keeping the bar close enough to me. So he worked on my start position and my back position. Also the feet thing. He told me to make some noise on landing. There was another man there, I have met him at two meets. He is 2nd in the world for the 69K 40-44 class. Nice guy. Made me feel like a total fatty though since he is only 6K heavier than me. This is him.
He is going to the open in 2 weeks along with like 5 other people from Spoon. He was kinda adding things in as well. It was nice to have multiple people lifting around you and seeing what they were doing.
So the exercises Richard told me to do were snatch from blocks and hold the proper positions. Snatch pulls but with out the extension. Focus on slow control and hold the positions on the way up and then slow control,on the way down, lightly tap the ground and do it again. He was taking about developing isometric strength. Also snatch with a 3 sec pause 3" above the knees. Those were brutal.
Next we worked on some squats. New fun thing to do. Jerk grip OHS. This is to help with me going forward. He basically made me do them til I about fell face first forward. That was awesome. He had me do jerks right up next to the rack. So I couldn't dip forward. I was telling him about my all in my head freeze issue and how it creeps up at 45-50K. He had me do one CJ at 45. Then another at 50. nailed both. No other warm up reps. Just those two. It is part in my head and I think part because i don't stay over the bar and then bang the bar out. he had me do a bunch of DCJ's at 45. We did some clean pulls like the snatch ones holding positions with a light tap on the ground then back up.
Last but not least he had me do 3x10 muscle snatches with the bar. Oh my. That is what killed my shoulders for the next day. I thought all the squats were going to do me in but it was the overhead work and the muscle snatches that did me in.
And he told me not to focus on the number on the bar but the proper technique and the kilos would come.
So all in all I thought it was a good session.
Today's singles session went so so. Snatch just wasn't there. And I guess I am scared of the blue plates.

Blue is such a pretty color. No need to be afraid. ;-)
That is so awesome you got to go get some coaching like that. Plus, you got to meet some new, like-minded people. Hey JJ! Nice vid dudette, I have noticed you look like you're lifting more like a machine, srs, just like fark it I'm going for it. Singles days are always gonna have a few misses, if they didn't then you'd know you were pussying out on the weight. You used to seem a lot more hesitant, now it's just like RARRWWWW LET'S DO THIS! Tell those blue plates to screw off, blue plates are just a bunch of the other colors put together.

Great lifting, JJ! And great write up on your brick-and-mortar coaching!
Next time just do the big yellows plus the 5kg whites. Make it your bitch, then you got the blues next time. The bar was high enough for a power clean..
But I completely understand when the head gets in the way... Don't sweat it. Once you get the blues, which is just a matter of time, you're gonna have to set the next goal, which is the reds..
BTW, Triple F, aka ForcedFedFreak, the owner of www.wlforums.com, is doing a survey.. Could you do it when you get a chance?
Just cut and paste below, but put the h t t p s together.. For some reason, bb.com always blocks out the letters. THANKS!

I know. No need to be afraid! It was really cool to go up there. Hoping to make it a more regular event!
Thank you very much Hammie. The better technician I can be on the lifts the better I will get! I am less hesitant but still have some to get over, esp on the Cleans!
Yes, I made the 55 lift with the yellow and the whites. Was hoping to knock out them blues yesterday and get that hump over, but still I guess in the head. Richard said, "Well the bar is sure high enough... You will not die if you commit and 'go for broke' ...what is the worst thing that could happen....success?" What is the worst that can happen????
I actually do a lot of reading over on the WLforums and I took the survey a week or so ago. I don't post much over there though.
Oh and hubs is working on my blocks. He has the low blocks done and the top of the jerk blocks done. I may have him make me a little riser for the low blocks so I have the option of just below the knee and just above the knee! They are cool! Thanks again!Spoon Barbell Club

Nice!
We'll need to have block jerk show down when your hubby is done.
Oh, BTW, I didn't tell you this. The drawing I sent you was revised based on your height, as you know. But what I did was instead of deducting a total of two inches (I am 5'8" and you are 5'6") I deducted three inches because sometimes if I dip too deep the plates would lightly brush the top of the block. (I've only done it twice.) So I deducted 3. You will still be able to get under to unrack the bar. I mean, Buddy is 6'0" and he has no problem getting under my blocks. This above all..
