Head is still sore but better. They can bellow all night long. Weaning is worse than heat. Unless people drive by and see like 6 of your cows riding each other. That is kind of emabrassing.

Some weeks are just like that. I am trying as I get older to not let the bad days carry over. Break felt good. Can't wait to hit it tomorrow!!

Thanks MM. It is crazy how kids do seem to know the morning you want to sleep in and ruin them. But mine are getting older so they normally aren't as bad. They get up early on weekends and don't want to get up on school days!
I may bring my phone tomorrow and see if I can figure out how to set up to take a vid of deads and then Fri for squats. Best camera position for deads and squats? Thoughts? Where do you put the camera? On the floor. On a bench? Workout in a public gym. Any ideas?

Usually a side angle is best so that you can see body positioning. Depends on the set up at your gym - can you move a bench over or just set on floor.
Excited for vids too!

See I don't know Geek. I was thinking as I was doing the second set of 185, this is farking heavy. I don't know if i could pull 190. I mean I want to get to 225, but I am not sure how. Do I go back down to 175 and do x5, then re try 180, then 185, then go til I get stuck and come back down? I have lifted for a couple yrs but I have never really tried to lift heavy til recently and I am just not sure how to get there.

on jan 11th, you were hurrah'ing about 170 and now you're working on 185. is that 11 days? 11 days to go up 15 pounds. and you think you're stuck.
*shakes head*
oh jjeane. you so silly.
edit: the percentage on that is almost 8%. By strength building standards that's huge.

Nice job on the DL JJ! Tiny bit of back rounding but that was max effort for you for that amount of reps so it's to be expected. Try to keep the shoulders back and push through your heels. I notice you're wearing running shoes, helped me a ton w/ form when I stopped doing that and started DLing in socks, the shoe padding can screw you up sometimes. Excellent work being put in though, was obvious in the vids you are working your ass off!

Thank you Hobbes. I agree on the back rounding. May try the no shoes, I notice a lot of you guys DL with no shoes, but was not sure why.
It was a huge jump and I would not have done it had 4 10# plates been available. Stubborn me. I should have waited. My goal for the day was 5x5x180 and if I got 3 out of 5 I was going to be happy. I think I will go back to 5x5x175 next time and try again.

i think you have great form on those squats. they are a little high. Some were at parallel and others were above. i dont know if you just need to push yourself in the hole at bodyweight to see what it feels like to go low (you could video yourself, so first you feel it, and then you see it) until you get to just below parallel. I still do that stretch that rippetoe talks about before my squat sessions. lemme see if i can find a pic.
side view

front view

go as deep as you can and then position your arms like that and then push your elbows out so you are stretching those inner muscles. it always helps me to do this so i can get a feel for going deep. my body is kinda dumb and needs a daily reminder. lol
nice workout, too! i hope the trip to houston isnt too annoying. also, that gym looks amazeballs.

Geek THANK YOU!! I totally forgot about that stretch. I was totally discombobulated by the time I got to the gym today. I will make a note in my notebook to do that stretch next squat day.
Trip to Houston will be fine. Just long. Maybe I will go lift Sunday and then I won't feel bad!
DM, I agree that flexibility has a lot to do with it. My left hip is way tighter than my right and I have to really think about keeping level and not letting one side dip more than the other.

Let’s just call this a reload workout. Well the next 2 workouts I do this week will be. I have been having chore issues the last 4 mornings. My milk pump has been acting funny, very frustrating. But I think Hubs fixed it. So my frustration level in the am has been pretty high. Plus I did 4 full body workouts in 7 days. So I am thinking the other 2 workouts I do this week will be lighter. I am going to cut put the arm tri set for the next 2 as well. My mind was just not in it this morning. i just didn’t feel like I could do it. So I think a slight break will be good.
I did spend some time today working on getting to parallel on BW squats and doing the squat stretch. My inner thigh and hip muscles are very tight. Plus I cheat when I sit down all the time. I am going to have to retrain my hips to sit right.
Clean, squat, press
3x10xBB
DL
10x135
5x175
4x5x155
Pullups
4,3,3

I am packing my lunch and snacks for the ride tomorrow. I don’t mind going if i know ahead of time.

watched all 3 squat vids
i think it went well
i would stretch and foam roll before hand (for inner leg)
then do some BW squats to a box moving to reg squats with the same box
only critique i can give atm is to slow down a tad on the descent

Thank you for your input RB? Need to bring my milk crate. Out of curiosity why do you recommend box squats? Also do you fully sit or just touch your bum on the box.
Slow down is one thing I am working on, as well as mind muscle connection. But I think the 2 go hand in hand.

I do that stretch Geek posted when I'm resting between sets at the gym for anything, leg day, back day, chest day, etc. It becomes very easy to do and sit in that position for longer periods if you do it all the time. People will bert stare though and wonder if you're either meditating or hurt lulz. Nice job on the squats JJ, looked pretty good IMO!
