Am I allowed to drink protein powder during intermittent fasting?

Am I allowed to drink protein shakes during Intermittent Fasting?
    Hey guys,

I usually workout from 4:30a-5:30a every weekday. I drink one scoop of protein prior to working out by half an hour, and then one more within half an hour of working out. This is the only time that I can workout since I have to work afterwards, and won't have enough energy to workout after work.

Anyway, as for my IF 7 hour feeding window, that's gotta be between ~9:00a-5:00pm.

My question is: can protein by drunk whenever? Or is it good to have is just before and just after a workout? Because if not, I can just workout in the morning, and drink my two scoops of protein powder at 9:00am. As for my eating window, that's pretty much non-negotiable since I have to eat at work.

Any advice? Even if it's not to do with IF, I'd appreciate any general comment related to my regime.

No it does not have be consumed around your workout and fasted training is used by many IF'ers as a technique of shedding more fat.

Fasting is fasting. Fasting is not being in a fed state. That means no calories. Proteins have calories. So, that means no protein.

The only thing to take during your fast is water or other stuff WITHOUT any calories.
The whole point of the fast, is to fast.

If you do your training during your fast, you cannot take a protein shake after your workout because that will break your fast.. However, since nutrient timing is irrelevant, you can still take that protein shake later, whenever your fed state begins, take your protein shake then.. That's if you plan on following IF... This is how I do IF...

2pm - First meal of the day, roughly 35% of Daily Calories

    6:30pm - Workout

8:30-9pm-ish - Last Meal of the day, Roughly 65% of Daily Calories

    10pm - Start Fast

During my last meal, if I don't hit my protein macro, then I will have a protein shake with my meal... This schedule works with my work/commute schedule, so its what I use.. YMMV... My weekend schedule looks like this though

    11am - Workout

2pm - First meal of the day, Roughly 50% sometime will have a protein shake with that meal

8:30-9pm-ish - Last Meal of the day, Roughly 50% of Daily Calories

    10pm - Start Fast

The leangains guide has a specific section on fasted early morning training.

He recommends BCCA's...during your early morning training...Xtend, purple wrath or your own personal choice.
