The purpose of the present study was to test the association between persistent cannabis use and neuropsychological decline and determine whether decline is concentrated among adolescent-onset cannabis users.

There haven't been many (any?) studies on long-term effect and this is one of the first ones. This one showed that there is decline in neurophysiological performance. Direct link between use and decline rate. The more you smoke, the dumber you get.

In my personal experience with friends who smoke everyday i think this is somewhat accurate, my friend used to get A's and ever since he started smoking weed everyday his grades dropped and he just seemed more stupid tbh, oh he's also now on anti-depressants & anti-psychotics.

Also im not some anti-drug guy, i actually indulge in abit of substance abuse, just dont smoke the maryjane.

I actually agree. When I was a kid I was in all accelerated classes and in the gifted and talented program. Then when I was 13 I started smoking pot...a LOT....for roughly 10 years. Not only is my ability to retain information chitty, my mind just seems to work slower.

Moral? Don't smoke a ton of pot in your teen years.

They tested for cannabis starting at 18 y/o, but they performed neurophysiological tests starting with age 13, so - and they say they do - given adjustments for years of education, they can very well show the effect.

Didnt read the study or any posts but in my honest opinion from personal experience, I would agree with you OP. I am literally the only in a my group of friends who doesn't smoke weed (used to in highschool). I can confidently say that all those who do around me do seem to have lower commonsense. Not saying there stupid by any means, most of my friends are from law school, a couple a doing PHD's, engineering things like that. Just when it comes to every day things they seem to be a bit slower at understanding consequences and are awful at making plans very unorganized in general. On the other hand you take Joe Rogan as a prime example of how you can smoke weed and not be brain dead.
