I used to think shopping the generic store was sufficient for my budget because a.) I live alone b.) Shopping on a weekly or bi-weekly schedule was cost efficient based on the rate at which products expire and c.) affordable.
At the urging of my wonderful mother, I checked out Costco today. MIND=BLOWN.
2 hours and $300 later, I have a stocked fridge, a stocked freezer and my cupboards are bulging. On top of that, I really will not need to do any shopping for AT LEAST a month, maybe more. I have so much chicken in my fridge i'll look like Zyzz in a month BAH GAWD.
Cliffs:
OP used to shop at generic grocery store
got Costco membership, bought in bulk, saves money and time
Do it *******.

Costco is a weekly visit for me. Get ground beef, chicken, broccoli, eggs, egg whites, and a churro.
Got to get dat cheap gas too."Don't be envious when the grass is greener on the other side because you don't know how much crap it took to fertilize that ground.
Are you ready? "Therefore I said to you that you will die in your sins; for if you do not believe that I am He, you will die in your sins. (John 8:24).

I would invest in a commercial food vacuum as well. The comment about the chicken going bad is because of freezer burn, but if you vacuum seal each breast, or two at a time like I do, you will never have an issue.
