    Squats

    I have a problem because I won't be able to do barbell squat for at least two months because I'll be on out on business staying at a hotel. The gym at the hotel does not have a squat rack so I'm going to try dumbbell squats and split squats. Obviously, I know barbell squats are superior, but you dont think it would do any harm to try dumbbell squats?

    This place is out in the middle of nowhere and the nearest gym is like 30 minutes away so I'm kind of stuck using what I have.

    I'd rather just mix in various types of weighted unilateral work like lunges, side lunges, bulgarian split squats, step ups, and whatever other leg machines they had available.

    Would probably suggest this as well since it's better to do something to work out your legs if you don't have a squat machine available to you while you're away for 2 months.

    Lunges with dumbbells would probably be your best bet. Maybe throw in some wall squats while you're at it too.

    Thanks, I'm going to go with lunges, goblet squats and some of the other suggestions made here. I guess something is better than nothing at this point.

    I would go with driving 30 minutes to a gym once a week to squat with a barbell. I drive 60 minutes once a week just to use bumper plates

    Barbell hack squats are what you're looking for. No risk of injury if you go to failure even without a rack.
