I bought a Tanita 559, but some members here say it is not ideal for people with muscle because it is not accurate. I would probably go with some calipers.

I have an older (3years+) Tanita and the thing isnt very accurate. However, it is rather precise.

It is good if ya just wanna measure your progress. For example, it my say your are 14% (when calipers say 12) but when you actually lose 2% it will display 12.

Not my best post - im lazy today

Calipers are far more accurate that Bio Electrical Impedance testers. Also, the scales are much less accurate than the hand held devices. Lastly, if you are anywhere away from the "average" body weight and height, then a BEI tester is not going to be accurate because it calculates the body fat perecntage by calculating from the averages.

Water displacement test is the most accurate at high body fat. Skin fold test is the most accurate at low body fat. Body impedance and online calculators are not accurate at any body fat.

You need a “Y” in there . The typical lazy person that I am, I tried to copy and past that into my browser. I was like, hmmm, I know that page exists, hehe.
