Really wrong for the most part, only exception I can think of is when its the last guy on the team. Here in Chicago people would go crazy whenever Brian Scalabrine, and Kyle Korver would come in for the Bulls. Same goes for any small white guy on the Cubs.

Can't tell you how many times I've gone to a Mariners game and seen white guys wearing Griffey jerseys. IMO people will pull for their team's star player no matter of his race.

Despite what everyone's saying, this is true
It happens way more with black people though (and to be fair they do have more athletes in the major sports outside of baseball) but there is a reason why so many black people root for the eagles or the panthers (Vick and cam)
Brb when the falcans had Vick, the majority of the season ticket holders were black. Now that they have a white qb, majority is white.
