    Squatting bruise (pic)(srs)

    Anybody else get this? Does it look like I would be resting the bar in the correct place?
    It doesnt really bother me, I just dont want to cause an injury.

    Weight was about 2 sets at 350lbs x 5

    I use a pad because there's no reason to bruise your body and grind huge weights against your vertebrae. That can't be good over decades of lifting.

    Good point. My friends who squat less use towels but thats because they complain it hurts them. Its not hurting, Im just interested if its normal.

    using a pad on the bar is stupid, it increases your lever length and adds instability to the bar. it creates a situation where you're MORE likely to be injured than without it.

    the only issue with your bar placement is its kind of in between high bar and low bar, otherwise you're fine.

    entirely normal, if with a bit less weight than one would expect, likely due to your in between bar placement.

    Yeah, I did the same thing. You can see ^^ where the bar is on your spine and then you lower down and it rolls along your spine. Put it below that bone that sticks out above your traps

    EDIT: Also, pinching my shoulder blades together before setting the bar helped dramatically

    it's normal , i get it a bit lower down whether wearing a t shirt, jumper or singlet.....it happens. Got the pad thing at the gym but the thing is so thick or i lose a lot of feel and control.

    dont use the pad brah, find it takes away the balance when squatting, and you dont feel like you are controlling the bar if that makes sense.

    as long as its not hurting as you squat you should be fine, maybe try out some different positioning.

    you can move the bar down a bit to get to low bar positioning, or you can move it up a bit to get high bar positioning.

    350lbs just isn't very much, I get that bruise but with more like 800+lbs.
