I am going to follow antepartum mother's around and buy their placenta off of them.
I will then eat their placenta so my body can harvest the cord blood and I can utilize the stem cells in there for myofibrillar hypertrophy.
Placenta created a baby and made growth. Why wouldnt eating it make me grow even more and be jacked?
lab check offs are a joke.
You dont learn from those. you just get an idea.
You learn by practicing on patients. My favorite ones are the older ones who dont give a **** cause they are hard like thatFrom Houston, now I am in San Diego

My one tip for yall taking the nclex in the future. Disregard everything, aquire kaplan class.
Srs. Took it my last week of nursing school as it was mandatory. Graduated, had to wait almost 2 months before taking the nclex, didn't study during those two months except brushing up on kaplan stuff the week before the test.
I had the mindset that I was going in and only getting 75 questions(minimum you can get), no ifs or buts about it. Walked in, hit 75, answered, screen went black. Walked out knowing I passed. I wasn't prepared for any more, that may sound weird but I knew I didn't need more. And don't buy into the hype about certain questions mean you're doing well or poorly, just focus on the damn test and not try to think about how you're doing. Most people pass it with a 55-60%.S&P Crew

So much ish went down this week, saw my first ever live birth through a c-section, kids going to be the next Shaq, came out at ~4300 grams (almost ten pounds at 39 weeks w/ no maternal gestational diabetes either). The doctor who performed the procedure was a former bodybuilder, now working in the L&D so it was cool talking to him after being surrounded by gossipy middle aged women for 4 weeks. Dude was probably in his 50s and still so jacked that he was stretching his scrub top and had probably close to 16 inch or so forearms.
Squeaked by my nursing research class with a 77% test average and most likely will end up with a solid B in the class knowing absolutely nothing about research, not having the book, and attending 2 classes all semester. So glad to have that useless class out of the way.
Next week have my preceptorship interview on the pediatric unit I really want to be on my last semester so hopefully i get it. I was told i'm the only male in the last 5 years or so who has even attempted to apply for it so hopefully it goes well.
Can any of you guys who are done with your programs or currently precepting/interning talk about the benefits of certain units in relation to getting hired? I've been hearing a lot about adult med-surg floors being the best because you get a broad population and a lot of experience applicable to getting hired. I feel like i'm limiting myself with 260 hours in pediatrics if i get placed there because it really is a specialized field. Choices are a bunch of different med surges, a lot of different ICUs, OB of postpartum or labor&delivery, OR nursing, and ED nursing.

We took patho and we took fundamentals.
Both of them combined together are medsurge which is another class we take. in Texas its twice.
peri-op medsurge floor for medsurge 1
and CC for 2.
What I hear from alot of the nurses, even though they hate medsurge it can help them progress.
Ex. Knowing signs and symptoms of a problem with an adult, you can really see what it is in a kid. You can read S/S for the big things. Obviously it is not all same, but having the knowledge can still help you in other areas of practice.
Another situation is Psychiatric. You can use words that doesnt make sense and use your knowledge
ex. "The little men are in my chest hurting me"
Pt may be having an MI
To sum it, it is the basis.
Nursing research should be altered imo. I have used it for patient teaching and my preceptors have been amazed. I looked newer practices up and data to talk to the patient about in studies. One of them was about increasing HDL levels properlyFrom Houston, now I am in San Diego

The claim of saturated fat is the cause of cardiac problems - in europe the higher the cholesterol, the lower incidence they have of death r/t heart disease. avg cholesterol in france is 205 and average cholesterol in colombia is 245. they both have lower than america.
eating high cholesterol food makes a "Big impact" - your body autoregulates this
Hypocaloric diet and exercise is superior for prevention of heart disease as has been seen in countless studies- Improves lipid levels, reduction of systemic vascular resistance, decreased insulin resistance, the actual strain of the weight on your heart. If I had to draw out a giant flow sheet on the effects of obesity it would be ridiculous.
adequate water and renal function ****s on the whole "sodium intake"
More sodium you take in, more water you should have to flush it out.
They have certain practices on what they recommend to patients, but most of the actual reasoning and cause gets lost in teach so people just understand what to tell the patients rather than knowing why its working. It is a big problem in the nursing field. It will range from the student all the way up to the charge nurses. This doesn't apply to just nutrition in general but many patient interventions.
Some of my classmates still try to justify saturated fat intake and dietary cholesterol in regards to control of Cholesterol levels(the protein carriers).
One of them truly believes that a vegan diet is the healthiest diet you can be on. I try to not get in an argument with her over the diet cause I could use her brother as a reason of why his bone didn't heal right when it broke or it even breaking in the first place. No reason for me to sink down to that level. Talks about how supplements are bad but doesnt realize that fortification in food is a supplement. If they didnt have that then vegans would be suffering from anemia and their babies would have neurological and spinal problems.
And ****, countless people in the medical field still think creatine and high protein is bad for you in regards to renal function, they never even looked at the original study that uses GFR as a way to measure renal function. Anyone in the medical field knows its BUN and Creatinine

What's up guys, So I was accepted into the nursing program in NY last year, and I am finishing up my first year here. I finished the first semester with a 3.28 GPA. This semester was a tough one for me, Im taking Bio-Orgo chem (which is really not that hard) Technical mathematics, a useless writing class, and communications in the healthcare careers. I've had some things go on at home that has been really hard , plus waking up for work at 3:30 am then going to school all day until 7 has been really rough on me. I could have gotten a C+ - B- in Chem But I want an A, (So I can get into the Nursing 102 classes in the fall) I told my chem teacher my situation at home and stuff and she agreed to give me an Incomplete which wont effect my GPA and I can retake the class in the summer for free (without lab, I'll keep my 85% lab grade.) Now I have a meeting at 1:30 today with my math teacher and hope I can get the same outcome. Wish me luck! I can not wait to start clinicals (If I get in the second part) I'll be posting in here more often from now on, i need this extra motivation!

I got a 76. We had to sit in the room and wait until the 2 hours were up. I was literally crying there and I couldnt stop.
I know how you feel.
My father committed suicide last semester during psych before the suicide and depression exam.
My little cousin died of Synovial Sarcoma in the heart this semester before the chronic illness, cancer, and end of life exam. Horrible coincidence between the 2...
My grandmother died 1 year from today from multiple myeloma.
Many of the faculty members know my whole time through nursing school has been complete **** and they advised me to not take family and medsurge 2 together cause they knew my little cousin was going to pass and the stress I was going through.
The teacher told me to call after they evaluated the grades. They said there was a miskey on the answer key and they added +5 points to the grade. I would have passed with a flat 75 test average.
I was crying earlier cause of all the stress and I failed, I am crying now because of all the **** I have been going through this past year. My anxiety has never been this bad until this past month and I have never taken ******** every single day like I have been when I was much younger. I know that it is hard on my system.
Life is getting better but it is still taxing on me mentally, the transition to parenthood chapter sucked ass for me to read in regards to fathers.
I am spending 2 months in Hawaii this summer and taking gerontology online. My flight is on the 14th and I just cant wait to get there. From Houston, now I am in San Diego
