Hi all
Ok so I am going to let everyone know about my situation sorry its long.
I am at university and living in a house share. I have taken out two loans one for uni and one to live
My uni is costing me £8000 a year and my accommodation 5000 a year
My course is three years
3 years = 39000/40000
So I have done one term of my first year being in a max of about 13-14 hours a week. This is a joke in my eyes I understand that uni is home study and I do a lot of study and I worked really hard on my results which I received today
In the first year you need 40 % to pass which is not much % the exams were muti choice
All out of 100 points (100%) need to get 40 points (40%) of each module
Results
1. Food science
Lesson 2-3 hours a week
Marked on worksheets of each week
62/ 100
Nutrition
Taught 3 hours a week
Marked by coursework and exam
Need 50 for each
Exam 84
Coursework 50
Overall 72
Physiology
Taught 3 hours a week
Marked by coursework and exam
Need 50 for each
50exam
68 coursework
Overall 59
Professional skills
Taught 1-3 hours if a teacher turns up
58
Also in November I have found out I have dyslexia and dyspraxia no reason to be taught different
So I am very happy with the achievement that I passed this term but not happy with anything else
My thoughts
1. I hate the uni lifestyle
2. The cost is getting me down
3.It's really all getting me down
Options:
Stay at uni try my best which I have an will do
Problem is I the lifestyle and in the 2nd and 3rd year the hours aren't getting any more with teachers
2. Leave and go home
Will I get a job
Will I be in a dead end job
Apprenticeship
I am asking you guys as everyone has there own back ground and having only my family and girlfriend to talk to
I would like advice/ thoughts from others
To add we are only in 7 months of the yearLast edited by Ccm644; 01-16-2013 at 11:11 AM.

No university closer to home? Option to live at home and make the commute each day?
Second, I took this semester off, for multiple reasons, but to me, an education is important. It's more of a personal goal than one that will result in a job, although my ultimate goal is to teach at collegiate level. I am a huge proponent for acquiring knowledge and one of the vessels for doing so is at college. Going to college solely to get a degree, or to get a job, I believe are insufficient reasons to show up. If your goal is to become a better you, it may be one option. Yet, at the same token, you do not need school to do so, you can become a better you each day in any endeavor you choose. At this point, I would usually say, "Whatever you choose, give it your all." But, with you, I think that is a given ; )"The code of Bushido is harsh and relentless."

College is mad expensive, no way around it. Even more so here in the US it seems. It also does not guarantee a job. However it does guarantee that the likelihood of getting a decent job is greatly diminished. I have been out of school almost 10 years now and my wife and I still are paying back student loans. I don't mind though because the career and lifestyle that it afforded me (I'm a software engineer during the day) is well worth the debt I had to take on. My wife on the other hand may tell you otherwise since she is an independent consultant as well as a stay at home mom and isn't using anything she went to school for.

It's a decision that only you can make, I'm not going to try and sway you either way but ill tell you my story. I graduated from a private high school where my mom was the high school English teacher and my dad was a 5th grade teacher at the local public school. Needless to say I was pushed into going to college. I went for a semester and absolutely hated it. I stopped going after the first semester and got a job in a factory. I married my wife a year later couldn't be happier. Sure I work a lot of hours but everyone does these days. Not many people work a 40 hour work week. I didn't have anything that I really wanted to do so there was no point in me wasting a lot of money trying to figure it out. The only thing that I wanted to do was play golf but the end job I would get out of being an assistant pro only would have made me 30k a year and the program that I almost went to would have cost me 100k in loans. Not a very good pay off.
I'm not saying you should drop out or that you should stay, but you need to do what's right for you. I did what was right for me even though my parents weren't thrilled about there son quitting college and getting married at 19, but in the end it all worked out.TEAM DEMON

Thank you for the comment
University closer to home for what i want to do no, not really.
I mean 100% if i can get a degree then that would be an amazing achievement and a great goal to reach.
The reason i come to university was to gain for my career choice otherwise i think i would still be in the same situation i was in
Thank you
I need to look at the overall outcome rather than what is affecting me now and no doubt with the way the world is going then jobs are going to be harder and no doubt there will be jobs within the course i am doing.
Thanks for commenting
Well done for doing what you wanted to do and 11 years and you and your wife are happy were you both are is one great strong achievement.
I understand a person need to do what a person needs to do
Overall i need to sort myself out to be honest
- I need goals, I have never been good at setting them (except my comp)
- I need to be positive and confident
- Should be very happy with what I have achieved so far
I will update when im took a hard long thinking process
Thanks all___Growing Mentally and Physically ___

On the school topic: I'd do everything in my power to finish school, but if you're miserable then so be it. Do what makes YOU HAPPY. Maybe you would enjoy school more if you majored in something that TRULY interested you? I went to school for criminal justice and communications and it was a waste of money because I have no interest in those fields anymore, BUT if you have a field that really interests you I think school will help you out greatly in the short and long term.

Thank you for the reply
I am interested in the subject i am taking and i dont think their is many other i am interested in too. Its more the lifestyle which comes with all courses i.e: in 12-15 hours a week. Some people love it but i would rather have more time in to learn more.

Cardio for the week
30 miles cycle
2 Hiit session
I have been training for 14 days without a day off, doing over 60 miles riding and lots of lifting, I haven't found it affecting any of my lifts but I have felt these last 2-3 days a struggle so I am going to take two days off working of posing and stretching.

It did hurt, thanks for stopping by mate
That made my day haha
Okay so whilst squatting with 107kg (236lbs) on my back I had a steel step/box behind me so when squatting making sure my bum hits it to make sure I was going deep enough....
Then on my 4th rep I couldn't get back up... I couldn't drop the weight off my back because of so many people about so I opted to try and get the weight off forwards.. if that makes sense. So I bent my head down and walked backwards the weight just took me... and my head ended up being smacked into this steel step/box that was underneath me!
Didn't have a spotter

With that being on your head, you should really consider taking some time off, that is a very deep wound bro. I know the prep is key right now, but honeslty if any pressure is applied to your head it could pop your stitches and make it worse. this could go for any upperbody lift. Just tensing your head or holding your breaht could pop them out (srs)
be cautious....
