Aug 18, 2012 - If Jon Jones gets by Dan Henderson at UFC 151, he won't be salivating at the opportunity to fight Lyoto Machida again.
Jones, the UFC light heavyweight champion, told ESPN.com on Friday that he has no interest in fighting Machida a second time, despite UFC president Dana White announcing following UFC on FOX 4 that Machida was the No. 1 light heavyweight contender.
"I don't want to fight Lyoto Machida," Jones said. "He was my lowest pay-per-view draw of last year.
"No one wants to see me fight Lyoto Machida. I don't want to fight Lyoto again. Lyoto is high risk and low reward.
"He's a tough fighter, but no one wants to buy that fight.
"Between (Mauricio) Shogun (Rua), (Quinton) Rampage (Jackson) and Rashad (Evans), Lyoto was my lowest draw. Why would I want to fight someone where it's a lose-lose situation? I won't make money on it. And he's a tricky fighter."
Jones defeated Machida via standing guillotine choke at UFC 140 in December. His next title defense will be on Sept. 1 against Henderson, and he pointed out in the same article that he isn't looking past "Hendo."
Machida has only won once since losing to Jones last year. He knocked out Ryan Bader earlier this month in Los Angeles.

That's who he is going to have to fight, unless he wants to do the Anderson Silva superfight another supposed "lose-lose"

So everyone jumps on Chael Sonnen's nuts to defend his trash talking because it "sells PPVs", yet when Jon Jones states part of the reason he doesn't want this fight is because of the lack of PPV sales, you guys hate him for it? Everyone wants to make money by any means necessary. If there is a better fight for him that can net him more money, then why not? Besides, he already beat Machida in a devastating fashion (put to sleep), and though he says he's tricky, it's not like he is scared of beating him again...

You do know that for him this is not entertainment like for us but BUSINESS ! I am sure that 90% if not more of fighters think the same way but most don't have guts to admit it. Who on earth would want high risk - low reward fights ?
He didn't say that he won't fight Machida he just said that he doesn't want to.

Loved Jones as he was coming up through the UFC, but then he got cocky. He tries to be subtle, but it's annoying and I'm waiting for him to get his head kicked in now.

this statement, or should i say when he started to look at fighting in this way, is the start of his downfall.

And I thought jones was a douche before this...this...this is a whole new category of epic douchebaggery.
"I would fight anyone of the UFC LW's, but the problem is that I will never put my foot in the octagon after they (UFC) tried to be funny, I would rather have bleeding hemorrhoids than fight for the UFC. I would rather have one true Japanese MMA supporter than one million fake mainstream supporters that will turn their back on you as soon as you lose a fight. - Joachim Hansen

I don't understand how people think fighters aren't allowed to have preferences. This is the same thing that happened when Silva said he doesn't want to fight Weidman. Do you think he's going to go on strike if Dana says he's fighting Machida? Obviously not. He's stating his opinion and his logic makes sense. Machida got a few punches in, showed Jones can be touched, but nothing to the point where I have all that much of an interest to see the fight again. He was unconscious at the end of the fight. Strong irrational, illogical haters ITT. (no JBJ nuthugger)

I think Dana was kind of a little chode for giving it to him over Shogun. The reason Machida's match didnt impress me much was yeah he looked good in the fight, but he lost because his opponent went full retard. A jumping lunging punch with yourself wide open which is the last thing you want to do against Machida. So Machida won for one of the reasons he always wins, he didn't overcome any adversity in that fight. Shogun got tired sure but he had a much harder fight and he came out on top. How is that less impressive?Spike92 is 15.
^ place this in your sig to remind the world that Spike92 is indeed 15 and will never be anything other than 15.

I say if Gustafsson wins, one last fight at LHW. Then there is really nothing else to do for him at that weight class. So either super fight with Anderson or move up to HW. We can't keep rematching these fights where he already clearly won/dominated/finished his opponent.
