i was on fb and saw a friend post his body pic and hes never lifted before and he looked like if he spent a couple months in the gym he'd get ripped
on the other hand, ive been eating right (counting calories) and hitting the gym hard and still look like sht and im starting to get pissed... are my genetics not cut out to be shredded? should i just go on dat dere? im starting to really get pissed
diet: eggs, toast, milk, whey, peanut butter, bananas, mass gainer (recent), 1 lb chicken, 2 cups pasta, almonds
biceps are 16" flexed
some of my lifts:
bench: 185 lbs x 5 reps
deadlift: 225 lbs x 5 reps
squat: 185 lbs x 10 reps
DB incline bench: 75 lbs x 8 reps
lat pulldowns: 160 lbs x 10 reps

Don't make excuses man. I used to be skinny fat too. If you work out consistently and build actual muscle, you will no longer be skinny fat. Ignore the people around you and focus on yourself. I don't know when you started lifting but it took me a couple of hard years to get past the stage. Keep going.

i can take a pic tomorrow morning, they look small on a 6'1 frame
after watching a video of a dude tearing his bicep after deadlifting too heavy, im too paranoid to go high on deadlift... i want to do 225 lbs with perfect form for 10 reps before i move up... also i never have a spotter so i try not go overboard

I don't follow a diet, I just eat. In my opinion dieting at this stage is pretty pointless, as well as overly time consuming. Also, I hate the fact that straying from your diet takes a toll on the mind. Just eat a lot, and eat well. Try to stay away from candy/junk.
As for training, I go 6 days a week, one body part each day. Push yourself every time and go heavy, but only so much that you can maintain good form. Typical training strategies for hypertrophy suggest moderate weight and higher repetitions, but I like to lean more towards heavy than moderate.
Just keep going. That's all I can really leave you with...don't give up.

Stats + body confuse me. They make me want to think you have been lifting for a few months but you joined this site in 2010, so this probably isn't the case lol. Shiity 3 or 4 day split most likely + genetics
