Greetings and Merry Christmas wishes to all.
This is a review of Dymatize protein powder in their ISO-100 line. To be honest, there won't be any comments like "skin splitting pumps", "I had to call the doctor after 4 hours" (and two people silhouetted in separate bathtubs), or finally "this stuff is so powerful, it ought to be banned". Nope.....it is just protein powder.
However, this is one of the cleanest proteins (by label information) that I have used. It doesn't seem to have anything extra and that is fine with me. I really don't want a 3 course meal in my cup or half of what is in my pre workout either.
The front label has the information that seems to make sense when selecting a protein powder: 100% whey isolates, 25 grams of protein per serving, 5.5 grams of bcaa's (which seems to be a normal amount), and 0 amounts of other things. It also shouts at you that it has a New Improved Taste. When products tell me that the taste is improved.....makes me wonder how it tasted in version 1.0.
As in any good porn photo shoot......Here is the Money Shot! No really.....this is as good as the pictures get. There is even a whip included in the photo to ..........forget it. I just usually mix my protein drinks in stainless malt cups and use a small whip to mix things up. I also always use milk to mix my protein. I have used whole milk and skim milk on both of the Dymatize flavors.
PACKAGING
10/10 Sorry....trying to keep this lively. Both tubs were sealed. The labeling was complete and not confusing.
INGREDIENTS
10/10 This is such a simple list that I didn't have to Google anything. It all seemed to make sense to me. (I don't play a Nutritionist on TV or YouTube)
MIXING
10/10 No slimes, lumps, and no one left on base. Really though, it's an isolate and it mixes just like you think it should...thin and complete.
TASTE Gourmet Vanilla
9/10 I am a Vanilla baby. I may flirt with banana, milk chocolate, but I always come back to Vanilla. This Gourmet Vanilla flavor is mild and easily varied by both liquid amount (I used from 6-9 ounces per scoop) and by the liquid used. It had a milder flavor with whole milk and a bit more pronounced flavor with skim milk. My favorite combination is about 7 ounces of skim milk. It foams a bit but disappears within a couple of minutes so you don't have a mustache if you don't want one.
Cookies and Cream
8.5/10 This one snuck up on me. I had no clue what CnC was supposed to taste like when I purchased the tub. The chocolate bits and flavor put me in my usual "it's chocolate so it's a 2nd place flavor". After drinking it for maybe the 4th time with the right amount of skim milk (8 ounces)......I realized that I really like this CnC flavor from Dymatize. It has little dark bits floating around in a light tan colored liquid and that seems to be the norm for a flavor like this. Good stuff.
OVERALL
9/10 Dymatize ISO-100 is a great product for me. It makes me comfortable with its ingredients, happy with the taste and convenience, and has a price point that is acceptable in the current market it competes. Both tubs were purchased by me and were not samples.

Thanks for the great review, Catalyze. Very thorough. I tried a sample of this last month (guy from my gym hooked me up with this and some orange-flavored BEAST creatine samples, which tasted pretty good). Same Vanilla flavor of ISO-100 that you tried, and it tasted great. Mixed very well with a Blenderball. Can't comment on it beyond that since it was just a sample, but I'd be willing to go all-in on a full jug. I hear that the birthday cake flavor is pretty awesome, too.

Vanilla flavors always seem to have the best profile protein-wise. This review definitely piqued my interest, since I haven't considered ISO-100 due to the price. But I'll do a bit of calculation and comparison in regards to protein for buck, since with a superior profile it might be fairly close to the stock standard concentrates.
How is the thickness, though? I know isolates don't really have any advantage over concentrates, but I always hear how thin they are. That'd definitely be a turnoff."In all things there is a poison and there is nothing without a poison. It depends only upon the dose whether a poison is a poison or not." ~ Paracelsus

Emperor - Isolates seem to be the thinnest of the protein powders to me. The Dymatize is on par with other isolates that I have tried as far as thickness. Whole milk will make it thicker than skim milk on down to water as probably the thinnest drink. It really isn't very much thinner than a normal type of blend....but it is a bunch different than casein...lol.
topself - The cake batter was out when I went to buy my protein...and the orange. Glad you found a protein and flavor that works well for you....We always seem to be on the hunt when it comes to protein powders.
