In addition to the absence of a reference standard, Gaspari's COA's are mirror images of Cahill's, conducted by the same lab, with the d/l's omitted - and the analyte can't be quantified with any degree of acceptable accuracy and precision in the absence of a detection limit. From a hypothetical standpoint, I ask those following along:

If you were licensing a compound from another company, and over time you saw countless accusations accompanied by analytical evidence, indicating that what you were getting from your supplier was adulterated.... would you not distance yourself from that supplier immediately?

Well let's say for argument's sake that you wanted to have a lab find out once and for all what was going on first. Would it make any sense whatsoever for you to hire the same lab that your questionable supplier hired in an effort to reveal what the discrepancy was?

Anyone with half a brain would hire an unaffiliated lab to create a legitimate standard and conduct the test. Likewise, nobody with any appreciable degree of morals would ask the lab to omit crucial analytical data [unless they were attempting to cover something up].

So out of all the labs Gaspari Nutrition could have hired.... they just happened to use the same one as their 'dendrobium stem' supplier, and it just so happened to be void of a d/l just like Cahill's? How convenienti! Way to distance yourself from your supplier's questionable activities and bad press.

Those Hello Kitty COA's prove nothing, just like they do nothing to substantiate your contrasting body of evidence.

To answer your hypothetical question about if I was a supplement manufacturer, I wouldn't be a supplement manufacturer. This industry is a businessman's worst nightmare. Too much risk and not enough reward. Too many felons and not enough honesty. Too much focus on lawsuits and not enough on quality. I personally would certainly run things differently than most people do or would. But that's just what people like you and I do - we criticize those who take the risks from the comfort of our stable jobs (I assume you are employed).

Personally, given the evidence presented to date, I'm not convinced that Detonate has anything illegal in it. If I felt that it did, I would not still be representing Gaspari. I'm not just blindly taking any one side of the matter as I do acknowledge that the waters are very muddied; but the fact that bodybuilding.com did their own testing and then subsequently put Detonate back on the shelves said a lot to me. They wouldn't risk selling a product that failed testing, especially since Detonate isn't a top 10 seller or anything. Risk is too great. So for them to stand behind it says a lot to me.

Beyond that, I don't know what you want me to tell you. I too would like a lab test that had greater levels of detail, if for nothing else to satisfy my intellectual curiosity. I don't believe that the lack of d/l indicates that there are in fact illegal substances in there and the d/l was intentionally set high as a means to cover it up. I know you have been going on and on about d/l but to me that's more of a strawman. Sure it's not listed, but it's absence doesn't automatically prove the contrary.

As much as I'd like to discuss hypotheticals with you, that juice ain't worth the squeeze nearly as much to me as it seems to be for you.

My name is Louis Bosurgi. I was a US swimmer and my time in the 1650 yard freestyle event qualified for Olympic Trial Times. I was rated top 16 in the country in 3 events for my age group when i was 13, 14, 15 and 16yrs old. I broked records of former Olympic Swimmers when they were my age. These were set at Jersey Wahoos. I swam with former Olympian Peter Wright at Wahoos. I am a former Peddie School graduate - top boarding school for academics and swimming. I am a Lehigh graduate and also was accepted and attended the United States Naval Academy. I start lifting weights after competitively swimming in 2001-2002 timeframe. I am 222.5lbs looking to reach 200lbs and 8-9% bodyfat. Max bench was 350lbs but I am currently cutting and looking to keep as much muscle and strength as possible. Tim, I'm not going to get into this with you. You obviously have strong feelings about the situation, which I respect and I admire your tenacity. But I have nothing more to say other than what has been said. For whatever reason it was determined that the lab tests would be released in the fashion that they were. I'm not surprised that detractors would have issue with them because that is always the way things go here on bb.com. Company provides lab tests and people criticize the lab, the methods, the credentials of the professional doing the tester, the color of the lab coats worn, etc. Posting lab tests will always be a lose/lose proposition because someone will be critical or claim that the lab was paid off or something. Don't post them and you get crucified for not posting them; post them and you get criticized for posting results that 'internet experts' disagree with in some form.

At the end of the day, I'm not a lab tech expert (nor do I pretend to be one on the internet) so I can't comment on what or what was not done. I have the information presented to me by Gaspari corporate and I balance that with my observations about how a huge and visible retailer like bb.com is choosing to handle the matter (and they are still selling Detonate after reviewing both sides of the case).

Unfortunately for you and for me, we are both too polarized in our viewpoint of this issue to meet objectively and I doubt that either of us will convince the other of our point of view, so I'd prefer to just agree to disagree.

If anyone wants to buy Detonate, you can do so from bodybuilding.com, whose executive leadership has spoken out in support of the testing done on Detonate (they apparently have done their own testing too). If anyone prefers a different product for whatever reason, there are many other great products available to choose from in the supplement marketplace.

Props to you for this statement. Keeping it honest.
