I posted this same picture in one of the other threads and said that I wondered if these were the Paramount plates that I'd heard of, so I guess my question has been answered.
Do they say Paramount on them, or just Standard Barbell? You wouldn't happen to have a better picture of one the Paramount plates would you?▪█─────█▪ Equipment Crew #39 ▪█─────█▪

Dumb.bell, working off of memory, they say "Paramount." If you go through Arnold's book on bodybuilding you may see them. Vinko will know as well. . . .
You need a good rack, a bench, and a 300-lb Olympic weight set. Now, what was your question?

Again, Vinko has done some research on 3-spoke plates. I hope he sees the thread and joins in. . . .

Can anyone tell me anything about BFCO plates?
I know they were made by the Bell Foundry Company in California. Just wondering what periods of time they would have been manufactured. Possibly the 60s and 70s? Anybody know?Last edited by dumb.bell; 08-06-2013 at 11:46 AM.

Had the longest drive ever to Richmond today. snowone was supposed to drive with me, but his wife said no. Met ffrink outside of Richmond and swapped a non-USA-marked 100-lb roundhead for a USA-marked roundhead. Picked up York 90 and 95-lb globes, 110-lb Jackson globes and waxed 120-lb Jackson globes. The seller, an old friend and Richmond gear flipper gave me a pair of refurbished 45s and 25s for my having caught his craigslist ad and getting him a better price than he realized. It may be dog-eat-dog in the iron game collecting community, but not with friends. . . .
The painted hundos are going into my home gym and a lone 25 (thanks SkinnySquats) is a replacement for a friend who had a 25 go bad (loose head) on him. It happens.
There is no question that the 120s are waxed Jacksons. You can clearly see where "Jackson" would have been, had the foundry not waxed out the name in the casting. The York globes are interesting in that they are not as circular as the Jacksons, and that there is a roughness to them (apparently common). Also, on the 90's the "YORK" and "90" are facing the same direction, while on the 95s the "YORK" and "95" are facing in opposite directions. You need a good rack, a bench, and a 300-lb Olympic weight set. Now, what was your question?

Also found these.
I know these are not as great as some of the recent finds people have snagged, but I was pretty excited to see this name since it is the first time in probably 7-8 years I have seen any in person.
Not a bad 5lber but won't fit anything I have:
Nice set of 5s I can actually use:
Single 10, I can also use:
So I was a pretty happy guy. Oh and I also got 4 of these:
Wait for it
They look nice on my plate loaded units:

Some say the 35s with the number "35" going clockwise are older 35s. Also, plates. Would not be milled unless they were out of spec. York may not have begun milling until the late 60's or early 70's.
ETA: The Jacksons are killer. It's an Action Jackson weekend with those plates and the globes in Virginia! You need a good rack, a bench, and a 300-lb Olympic weight set. Now, what was your question?
