I got these York milled plates probably from the 90s? It says made in the USA on them.
I have 6x45 painted 4x45 not painted
2x35 painted 2x35 not painted
2x25 unpainted
I also have some Samson International weights from the 90s?
I have 2x11 unpainted
6x5.5 painted
4x2.75 unpainted
I was wondering how much I could sell the weights for and if me painting them changed the value of the weights?

Serious collectors do not want repainted plates. Serious lifters probably don't care. I don't think the Samson plates are special, but given their size I would probably sell them on eBay if I were you, and I'd start at 75 cents a pound or more, plus shipping. Just to see where things go. Yorks usually go for around 75 cents or so a pound give or take a dime. They look nice, but they aren't special.
You need a good rack, a bench, and a 300-lb Olympic weight set. Now, what was your question?

To clarify, I collect, but I also use what I collect and I like to have all my 70s, 80s, and 90's plates and dumbbells looking new so I paint. Many traditional collectors do not want stuff painted and I've heard from others who flip used York stuff that some buyers will pass on a sale if the plates or roundheads are painted.

^^^^ they were made by Schnell Barbell.Josef Schnell was a German National Oly champ, and competed in the World Championships in Munich in 1955. Schnell Barbells were used in the 1972 Olympics and the 1982 IPF World Powerlifting Championships.
Josef Schnell died in 2010,and his sons took over the business beforehand.Unsure of when the business first manufactured plates, but they are quality gear.

I'm Robert Zuver.
True that Richard Sorin paid a visit to my home on my invitation and did purchase several of the famous Zuver's Hall of Fame Plates last year the price will remain undisclosed. As a vintage iron collector he also has bought several other pieces over the years from other collectors and eBay. Untrue is that he has the only set of the Big Boy 200lbs. Fact is I have the only Complete Set Of Zuver Plates known to exist. A compleat set is!
2--50lbs Muscle Plates
2--100lbs Muscle Plates
2--150lbs Muscle Plates
2--200lbs Muscle plates
Because these plates were made in such a small amount and Zuver's Gym was one of the most famous west coast gyms ever they have become the most rare and expensive weights ever. No weight plates ever has sold at action for anywhere near the record $42.60 a Pound that a set of Zuver's 50lbs plates sold for in November 2011 on eBay. I've had offers over that amount for my collection and haven't let them go.
So some of you might laugh, but there are though's who pay a lot for a great rare piece of iron history.
If anyone has any questions for me about Zuver's History, feel free to ask here or check me out on ******** under Robert Zuver.
Nice Meeting you all.

Mr. Zuver, thanks for posting here. I have read your posts on other forums with great interest and really enjoyed the thread on Zuver plates at a certain old iron forum. The great thing about vintage iron is that it is a tangible link to the past and lifters who came before us. I hope that you will drop by from time to time and post about Zuver's Gym and the good old days!
Reps for a really strong first post. You need a good rack, a bench, and a 300-lb Olympic weight set. Now, what was your question?

i'd buy some if there was ever a reissue of the plates . think about it, like sneakers, they still go for alot even if they are not the original production run!

I've got something a bit different for this thread.
It is not made of iron but it is related and it is definitely vintage.
My father dug these out and decided to pass them down to me for my birthday. These shirts were made for him at the time of the accomplishment in 1972 while he was stationed at Lockbourne Air Force Base in Ohio (renamaed Rickenbacker Air Force Base in 1974). His timing was pretty darned cool, as I just achieved my first multi-training day 1,000 lb Powerlifting total 11 days ago.
These 41 year old shirts are shrunken and brittle but you know I had to wear this one, even if only for a few minutes. Thanks Pops.[̲̅$̲̅(̲̅ ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°̲̅)̲̅$̲̅] Equipment Crew #57 [̲̅$̲̅(̲̅ ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°̲̅)̲̅$̲̅]

oldred would be a better person to answer that question. He corrected me in the Ivanko thread (see quote below). I think the concentric circular marks are typical of a lathe. https://www.google.com/search?q=meta...w=1206&bih=663

Milling is done with a mill. Turning is done with a lathe. Basically a mill has a rotating cutter that moves over the piece being machined. On a lathe the piece is turned and the cutting tool is moved across it. Both are machining processes. On a milled York plate you can sometimes see where the cutter has cut a path up and down over the plate. A turned plate such as the one above was turned and the tool cut the face, probably, from the outer edge into the center.
