    Question Frequency of Abdominal/Core Workout

I've read many times that you need to rest your abs and core between each workout; it's not an every-day section, it must be rested just like the other body segments. However, I've heard contradicting information in the form that you're allowed to work out your abs and core daily because the muscle regeneration is simply quicker and cleaner than that of any other bodily segment.

Can someone with true knowledge and experience shed some light on the topic? I think addressing this would be beneficial to many, at least I'd assume so after hearing so much contradiction all from multiple supposedly reliable sources. Thanks guys, appreciate it!

you can work out your abs every other day if you really want to, as long as you are not doing ridiculous amounts of sets. many experienced bodybuilders do 3x per week.

I've been running with a 16-minute (inc. 1.5 total min dynamic stretching at beginning and end for back/core) ab-workout with high difficulty and 10-16 rep sets of lower, middle and upper ab-centric purpose as well as overall core focus in the form of core-oriented plank styled workouts. It's pretty intensive and really gets a burn going, although I don't think it's quite as ab-bulking as incline weighted situps (or any variation of weighted situps) or weighted crunch type workouts. Does the trick well.

Based on that, do you think I should take a single day between each, take 3 days between each, or do it daily?

i definitely wouldnt do it everyday because even though smaller muscle groups recover faster, nothing is that fast. i would start off every other day, and focus on how your body responds. if they are still sore or have that tight feeling, give it another day in between.
