leangains IF - going to try this again

well long story short, i may be retaining water weight, but i may also just not be losing weight. i haven't felt super great about my satiety. i've been getting more fiber cause i hear that helps a bit.

i feel like i need to concentrate my calories later in the day to feel better about my late class (currently working full time & going to school full time) and to feel better about my workout & also about going to bed. last night i caved and had two full glasses of orange juice just before bed. i know this won't kill my diet and i dont have any reservations about eating before bed but i was already at my calories for the day.

what rules do you guys follow when intermittently fasting? is there anyone that likes to fast an entire day at a time? i was considering maybe trying that out as well.

IF just provides an eating window for you and has no fat loss advantages. Move your eating window as you wish based on activity and hunger throughout the day. Or you could spread your calories throughout the day.

Fasting an entire day is not a good idea.

i understand the meal spacing doesn't matter a whole lot what im asking is what works best for people that do it for satiety. like i was thinking fast til noon on my early days or fast til 4 or so on my later days (mostly just mondays noon to 9pm as i have class tuesday mornings now)

I think it would depend on when you workout and your job/activity. Try different times out and see what works for you.

I think that if you're having trouble with your deficit, then IF just tends to complicate it.

I did a 16/8 IF for a long time, and at first it was a great fit, because I didn't really care about eating in the morning and eating more later in the day felt pretty good. This was more so when I was overweight.

As I got leaner though, I started getting hungrier in the mornings, and those bigger meals later seemed to stimulate my appetite even more. I had better luck on the next cut with 4 evenly spaced meals a day.

I don't think there's a universal pattern or even a trend that works for everyone, these things are highly individual.

    Everyone is different on IF.
I have gotten to where I am fine eating between 1245pm - 8pm
    Workout is at 1130 am

But the more important thing to remember whatever your goal is, it will come down to overall calories.
    Not when you eat them.
I do IF (LeanGains protocol) since Aug 2013
Been Lifting religiously since Feb. 1995
I eat what I want, to the number of calories I need based on my current goals.

Anytime you eat is intermittent fasting, its just some arbitrary timeframe to sell a service by lame coaches...
There is always someone less fortunate, with real hunger, with real adversity, who made something of themselves. What is your excuse?

yea the trouble i've been having is my schedule. its like i said i work full time & im in school full time. so most of my free time is taken up by homework, tuesdays i have class 9:30 to 11:45, then work 12:30-9 and thursdays are 8-4:30 @ work then 5:30-9 or so in class/lab.

obviously i've been counting calories but then i get this crazy urge to just eat and eat in the evening when im winding down. so i guess keeping to a specific eating schedule might help with that. in fact, class helps to keep me busy and to keep me from thinking about eating. problem is, i get home after class or work and it's just FOOOD on my mind lol. i love food too much

Then take fruit with you doing the day to help curb your appetite.
Save your big meal for when you get home.

    OP,

How long have you been on IF? Why are you sticking with IF if you're having so much trouble with it?
