    Creatine and weight gain.

I recently started taking MusclePharm's Assault. I love it. It's a big help for my workouts. I go longer and harder. The problem is I'm trying to get leaner and I've gained 11 pounds in the two weeks I've been using Assault. This happens to me when I use creatine, one of the ingredients in Assault. Is there anything you use for pre-workout that produces results without creatine? Thanks.

Creatine will cause you to add a bit of water weight, but will not make you gain fat. So why would you want to stop taking creatine?

Just back off your dose to reduce bloating. Not everyone needs 5g 1-2 times a day. It'll build up and do it's thing at much smaller doses.

The article link below may help you to understand creatine and its effects a bit better. It is highly unlikely an 11lb weight gain in two weeks is attributable to creatine dosage.

    http://examine.com/supplements/Creatine/#summary_full

Recommended dose is 3 to 5 grams a day,and once your body reaches saturation level, any excess will be excreted.

To answer the original question, yes, there are other pre-work out formulas with less or even no creatine.

    Force Factor - no creatine.

    Cellucor C4 - 1gm creatine.

    MusclePharm Assault = 5gm creatine.

BTW - I'm switching to MusclePharm Assault as soon as my C4 runs out, just for the added creatine.

Creatine causes me to bloat badly as well, but a week or so off of it and it all goes away. I am using gaspari's size on right now and can tell a big difference in my waist. Once it runs out I will stay off of it for a while.

I had a similar issue so i stopped taking pre workouts completely and bought a bottle of 200 mg caffeine pills. Some combinations just make some folks retain fluid.

creatine + excess carbs in the form of desserts = waist bloat for me.
