Will taking protein shakes make me bigger??

hey guys im new and have a question.

    I am currently 5'7 168...

i am content with my size. i dont want to get bigger, i am looking to get leaner and lose fat. What i am doing right now is watching what i eat, i am trying to consume about 1800-2000 calories a day. and i also burn calories through exercise. I do plyometrics X.. play basketball for 2-3 hours.. and weight lift.. and sometimes i might even do all 3 in one day.

what ive been doing currently is this, ive been taking a scoop of muscle tech whey protein after i weight lift or do plyo's.
i know that protein is used to build muscle, but i also learned that whey protein is used for muscle recovery, which is why i take it after plyo's too because i usually get shin splints because of plyo's and basketball.. and i want my leg muscles to recover and gain stronger to increase my vertical.

i am content with being my current weight i dont want to get bulkier or gain weight.. will i be safe doing my current routine? protein after weightlift / plyo's. if doing this will make me gain weight or get bigger i will stop.

    thanks

pretty much i am maintaining a 1800-2000 calorie a day diet with regular activities.. i dont go ham to try and get bigger.. i just want to lose fat and get toned..
i just dont want the protein shakes im takng to make me bulkier..

my ultimate goal is to get a body like taylor lautner. i cant post the image because i am not a 50 post member.

not too big, but just toned and defined..

the size of my arms and shoulders are already there, i just need to lose more fat to make it more defined. and lose fat on my stomache. if i flex my stomache i can feel the abs there but after years of eating bad i have fat over them. :\

calories in vs calories out is what it comes down to for getting bigger/smaller, if you are afraid your consuming too many calories just cut back on food or up your cardio

its hard to translate what you actually want, but I'm guessing you want to lean out slightly? If so just keep protein high, carbs medium as you need energy for your activities and fat low. I wouldn't try and lose more than a 1lb per week. So if 1800-2000 calories a day provides 2lb loss in one week then up your calories IMO, the trick to getting lean is to to maintain as much muscle as well as losing fat. Key here my friend is that cutting is a marathon. not a sprint, don't try and do too much to soon (i.e. loose weight quickly) and in answer to your question, no protein shakes won't make you bigger if you are in a deficit.

Protein shakes aren't some magical muscle building potion. You will only get big by eating in a surplus and lifting heavy weights. Protein shakes are just good for a very quick and easy to consume source of protein.

quoted for truth. it would take you years of lifting and bulking/cutting to gain a substantial amount of size naturally.
