You've got a good woman there JackB. How are you getting on with the bar? I've always wanted to try one before I spent out one due to my shoulder issues.

hahaha..yea.
i'm not sure i know what I'm doing with the bar. i'm not able to hold it by the cambered portion because the bar just falls off my back, so i'm still using it as i do with my regular bar. here's a video of a few sets. do i have to hold it by the cambered portion?

I picked up this Cybex bench today for $175. I'm going to need to recover it soon--anyone know a good place to get marine-grade vinyl or some such fabric? The guy also sold me the 6 x 10 lb Ivanko plates that I have been obsessing over for $.50 per lb.

Thanks, I tried that position, but I think my posterior delts just aren't big enough because the bar rolls off. I usually set the bar on scapular spines when i squat with a regular bar. I'll keep trying though, kinda fun to learn a new movement.

Picked up this oldschool squat rack...
along with a 300# CAP oly set, four 10# Hampton plates, two 30# hex dumbbells, and a Keys FID bench for $100.
The ad said it was 240# of plates, a bar, squat rack, and a pair of 30# dumbbells for $100. I was going to offer them $80 for the lot, but when I got there and counted 295# in plates and the seller threw in the bench, I just went ahead and counted out the five 20's. That's less than $.35 lb for the plates and a free rack and bench.
Now to snap a couple decent pics of the rack, clean up the bench and dumbbells, and relist them..."What lies behind us and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us." - Ralph Waldo Emerson

Went to Legend today and picked up a small order. Afterward, I went to the Dynabody used equipment store. If any regulars want to know if they have any particular piece, I can tell you what they have currently. IronGrandpa-they have 5 of those leverage squat presses that you were looking for in various different conditions. Dynabody store is in Alcoa, Tn. They also had 3 pair of Eleiko spinlock collars in "new" condition. Also a few "vintage" plates but mainly singles or pairs. 3 or 4 milled York 45's. Bunch of Hampton Hog urethane 25's and 45's. 14-7ft bars.

http://www.yorkbarbell.com/Commercia...oductType=Bars / Collars&Category=Collars&ProductID=70 They are similar to these York spinlocks. They were star shaped. They have been used but were in almost new condition. The sissy squat is an easy movement for me so I will have to do high reps or weighted reps. I have more trouble with GHRs. Can only do 6-8 rep sets right now.

Don't have a picture up yet but I got a powertec P-LM lat machine today with the low cable row. Ended up paying $85 and it's practically brand new. Came with a lat bar, flat bar, cuffs, and tricep rope. Not as cool as the yard full of revolvers but a good deal none the less.
I am going to die under a heavy barbell one day and it's going to be f*cking awesome--HamburgerTrain

I've used one of these years ago and didn't care for it much.
A true sissy squat doesn't need any special equipment. Just elevate your heels, hold onto a support with one hand, hold a weight plate across your chest with the other hand. Squat down on the balls of your feet and keep your toso/hips/quads as straight as you can. Go down as low as possible while maintaining the straight line and come back up, but don't lock out. For me this really targets the quads and gives a great "finishing" burn after squats, leg presses, etc.
Here's youtube vid of what I consider a sissy squat which is done without any equipment: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4V0Hu_aGueA
I've always heard this machine referred to as a Roman Chair squat. Here's a youtube vid of someone using this type of machine: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uKeQ3ZVeMXA even though he refers to it as a sissy squat you can see they're two pretty different movements. I feel true sissy squats more in the teardrop of the thigh above the kneecap.
Between the two I prefer the traditional sissy squat."It is my own fault for replying in a smith thread." deadwoodgregg

weekend score
Another score for the weekend. I am paying $400. I plan to keep the matching set of 5-50 and sell off some of my random unmatching DB's. Probably keep 2 of the bars if I like them. Most likely keeping the decline bench if I like it.
Hampton Rubber encased DB's 5-50. I am hoping to make some profit while still keeping whatever I want.
3 Shelf DB Rack
4 Nice Hampton barbells
Icarian Ab Bench
Cybex Adjustable Decline
Lighter weight set of Chrome DB's
My Coolass dog Dingo just for fun
Nothing is impossible.
