If I could've found a minivan that was capable of towing a camper as well as a full size truck, I definitely would've considered it. There's something to be said for being able to transport equipment in the rain, or stop at a store/restaurant on the way home from a score without worrying about some asshat(s) swiping your stuff.

Gotta get a cargo van for that, not a minivan. The dodge vans are stout.

Haha, minivans are awesome. Got one recently and was able to put it to good use bringing home two GHDs. Renting something is usually too much hassle/more time than I have to spare, so it's great to be able to just get in the van (or truck) and go.

You can train with spring clips, you don't need any special collars unless you are going to host an event, in which case, you'll need much, much more than some collars...

Not currently. I'd be interested in how they're being shipped to you. Shipping can be very expensive per pound. I think around 700 lbs is the sweet spot for freight. Are they shipping freight or several Fedex/UPS and USPS packages?

edit: Got any deep dish York plates that you want to send me??

Keep an eye out for the Ivanko version of that they usually go for $20 used. I thought a member on here was unloading a bunch of black Ivanko 2.5 kg collars.

Here they went for $79.99 plus $14.50
    http://www.ebay.com/itm/191151082778

I think $20 is a bit lower than what I've seen. The market is a bit dead right now. It's partly because it's summer and partly because a couple yokels posted auctions with no reserve when the market is dead. It's not even worth selling for $20... that would be like $16 after ebay/paypal fees... probably less since ebay takes a cut of shipping as well.

Are you getting a full set of calibrated plates, too? A competition bench setup? There's a big difference between getting a bar you could be using or a bench that is the same height as competing specs and making every training session identical to a meet environment. Many very strong people get strong with the bare minimum equipment, cheap CAP plates, an ancient bar, and a home welded rack with 5" hole spacing. I believe you're missing the first for the trees.

Ah... California, home of Ivanko. I think I know the ad that you're talking about. That guy might have better luck selling if he replied to emails. I offered to buy them all if he'd ship and he never replied. Maybe he just won't ship but collars aren't exactly difficult to ship. I found some elsewhere though.

I like them a lot too but I noticed if you use them on multiple bars with minor variances in sleeve size, the lock jaw rubber bushings will compress over time and fit poorly on the narrower bars.

edit: Got any deep dish York plates that you want to send me??
I think he plans to ship UPS ... and as a matter of fact, i do have few deep dish laying around haha

Thanks, I was trying to figure out who manufactured this. It's pretty cool, but I've got to put linear bearings in the shaft to make it really efficient.

Many very strong people get strong with the bare minimum equipment, cheap CAP plates, an ancient bar, and a home welded rack with 5" hole spacing. I believe you're missing the first for the trees.
Eventually yeah I would like to get calibrated plates and a comp bench set up. The equipment I am getting is going to be basically what I'm using in my comps. Same bar, same bench height, etc. Eventually I would like to upgrade to the Ivanko plates and a competition bench I will use in meets but for now the regular old cap plates and my bench won't make much of a difference. I know you can get strong without getting that stuff, but it certainly doesn't hurt and its a fun hobby. Using the same weight collars I will in a meet is just one less thing I have to factor in to my training.

I still think you're missing the point. Either way, if you want competition collars, get some Eleiko collars.

Found a pretty good deal and it was even local ( only an hour away). I got 55 -100 hex DB's for $250. If I added the weight correctly it came to 1550lbs, so about .16/lb. Now to clean them up.

Awesome deal! I'd love to find a deal like that.
