I tend to place the plates on the tree rather than throw them, so it copes okay lol.

It surprises me how many people refuse to buy equipment from Elitefts because its too expensive but they will buy equipment from their competitors, then continue to go on EFS website regulary to educate themselves for FREE
I got a nice set of power hooks from a fellow forum member the other day. I got to try them with my IMs this morning and it worked great. I miss my big set of hex dumbbells because I could drop them no worries.

Skid, I use the same setup , only with my smith machine bar. Also, I don't use the velcro straps that come with the power hooks, I wear gloves and the flat bar on the bottom isn't noticeable.

I think someone already told you to do this, but weigh them and keep the ones that are most accurate and sell the rest. Put some painters tape on them and write how much they weigh on the painters tape w/ a sharpie marker, so the ones you want to sell you can just remove the tape and the buyer wont know that it really weighs 42 lbs or so.

yeah i was planning on that (well the weighing part), but I'll also have a heavy preference for getting enough of the same brand/style, as I bought the lot with the hope of getting a good amount of matching plates.

The deep dish stacks on the left are seemingly the nicest out of the lot (the MGI or MSI strength systems ones and the olympic standard deep dish stacks right beside them - basically the 2 left stacks, and that mini left stack of 2 plates)
I still have to weigh them and see if they at least keep consistent.
This doesn't quite compare to the purchase above me, but this little badboy arrived in the post for me today. It was custom made by a guy who fabricates stuff on ebay. I just sent him a pic of a mini jack from google, and told him the bar height, and speced it in bare steel. I chose this stye as its super compact. I'll be adding some rubber/plastic myself to protect the TPB knurl.
thats awesome! i wish there was someone here that sold that that cheap.

I have alot of ironmaster stuff and at some point will get their kettle bells but how come I feel like instead of me mastering the iron I feel like its mastering me? LOL :D.
Just got home from the long trip to get my sixty-four 45lb plates I won in that auction
Here they are, sorted:
I'm thinking the ones marked "Olympic Standard Barbell" on the left may be vintage Ivankos....It's hard to tell for sure, but I would try to find that out, as it will affect the value of those plates.

I could be wrong, but I don't believe they're Ivankos. I have a pair of 35's like the ones we're talking about, and the letters are much thinner than the blocky lettering on the Ivankos.

You may well be right, Stash.....if they were mine, I think I might still run it by Vinko to be sure.....I thought I read somewhere that Ivanko was one of the first companies to make plates with 3 spokes rather than 4.....not trying to be difficult, but that's a big stack he's got there, and the difference between $.50 and $.75 per lb could be a big one! I do agree with you that I have never seen Ivankos with lettering that thin.

I understand completely. I think he should do whatever he can to maximize the return on his investment. It won't cost him anything to run it by Vinko, so I'd definitely recommend doing it.
On the bright side, regardless who made the plates, xephonics isn't all that far outside Atlanta and shouldn't have any trouble moving the ones he doesn't want.
