Thank you!
Walking is awesome- I didn't do any yesterday because I was too tired, and I was freezing ALLL DAY! It was ridiculous! Usually I'm sweating to death
You read my mind! Hahahaha! Stephen's picking me up some night time cold and sinus pills when he gets off work I could use them anyway- I have trouble breathing at night because my sinuses are stupid!

Lunchtime cardio- Great Success!
Well, I had to go on an ear plug buying mission- Andrew gets in late tonight so we're going to need them from here on in I went to Future Shop, and then Home Depot, and I have some but I was gone for a good 45 minutes. Haha!
Oh man guys I feel like crap. All stuffy/congested in the head, a bunch of pressure on my sinuses, and I'm really flushed and tired. Ugh. What am I doing wrong here? What am I missing? Workout coming up later! Hopefully I'll survive itTeam Cookies Give You Superpowers

About getting the calories up without increasing carbs...how come only 3oz of meat at dinner, chickie? That's nothing.

Because meat is expensive! A pork chop or a piece of chicken is usually about that size once it's cooked. Plus the 2 eggs and veggies added to that creates so much volume I have a hard time eating it all. Seriously! lol! Not much of an appetite directly after working out :/ But then I can't wait- I have acid reflux and if I eat to heavy too close to bed I can't sleep because of it.
Thank you! I've been doing some reading and I think half my sleeping issues come from working out so close to bed time. I don't finish up until 7:30 and I'm in bed by 9:45-10:00.
After I workout I cook, scarf food, clean, stretch, shower, make lunch...I don't stop going mad until I go to bed and I think by then I'm just WIRED. I need something to relax me or something....Last night I was so tired I passed out right away but my sleep was still super restless. Arg! lol! Sinus pills will hopefully knock me out tonight!Last edited by gobbles23; 01-08-2013 at 11:26 AM.

I'm sorry you are sick. Have you tried NyQuil? Tylenol PM does NOTHING for me personally. You know my husband gets up really early to go to the gym and for a while his shuffling around was waking me up too and interfering with my sleep (I already suffer with insomnia). I've always worked nights so I was used to sleeping during the day... often using ear plugs to drown out the noise. I didn't like the earplugs because they didn't stay in well and they gave me a headache. Well we found the perfect solution... a box fan. It drowns out everything and the humming sound keeps me asleep!
Keep rocking the workouts... but don't overdue it while you are sick! I usually take those opportunities to deload myself...

Hey Stephanie
It's more of a restless issue than noise- we have ear plugs we wear (both my boyfriend and I) plus we turn the fan on high and that works wonders! (We have a noisy roommate ) It's mainly just getting my body/mind to calm the hell down!
I do too, but these past few months I've been feeling run-down a lot (defintely due to a lack of sleep) and I already deloaded due to illness a few weeks ago so I don't wanna go there again I'm not completely sick yet, just feel run down and on the verge I'm hoping that if I manage to get something to help me sleep even just after a few of my later workouts I'll be able to fend it off.
Funny though what works for some people and what doesn't when it comes to taking things that make you feel sleepy I used to take night time sinus pills (cheap immitation of tylenol pm)before because I have trouble breathing at night and sometimes they work for me, but sometimes they don't. I was definitely sleeping better on average though when I was taking them, but I stopped because I didn't think it was a good idea to take them so much. Sigh!Team Cookies Give You Superpowers

I have everything done almost and it’s only 7:45pm I will drink chamomile tea before bed, take some cold FX, a sinus pill, a zinc pill, some vit. Results after one week?! Now you've got me all excited!
I've heard that low carbs can make your sleep even worse? Is that true? Should be interesting... haha
It's sucky that your sinuses are so bothersome to you. I guess then it becomes a vicious cycle. You feel flu-y because you aren't getting enough sleep... you aren't getting enough sleep because you feel flu-y...? Hopefully your stash will sufficiently knock you out tonight.
It's great that you have recent pics of yourself, because I am stoked to see the changes you make during UD2. Gonna be awesome!!

Hey Ricki!!!
Yeah, low carbs usually make sleeping kind of difficult sometimes! I used to save ~20g of carbs for before bed and I found that helped!!
I always had sinus issues- they're just worse lately. Since I moved my prescriptions are expensive and I haven't been taking my nasal spray as much as I need too (TMI ALERT! lol! And the sinus spray makes my nose bleed here and there...it's just the way it is....it's common with corticosteroids, apparently, so now my nose is pretty much contantly runny + slightly bloody. I'm not using enough of it to make my nose clear (I need 4 sprays a day- I'm only taking 2) but it's enough to tear up the inside of my nose.) I can't breath a whole lot most of the time. Plus the air is colder and dryer up here compared to NL) So they're just suffering.
And my evening workouts + crazy amount of activity in the evenings are making my nights sleepless and what little sleep I get, restless. So then I'm lying there restless and can't sleep, or I sleep and it's super interrupted because I can't breath. Then the lack of sleep kills me. I don't know what to do. I could take the spray and ignore what it does to my nose and pay a lot of money and then I can breath, but I don't want to be taking it, and now I can't breath I'm rambling. Sorry if I'm not making sense! But my basically my nose being congested all the time + sh*tty sleep leaves me pretty vulnerable to colds and flus and sinus infections.
Thanks! I hope so

Nice avi!!
Sleep issues? Read a couple pages of a book before bed helps turn the mind off for me sometimes or oddly I'll just count and fall asleep.

Sorry you're feeling icky, Lori Have you tried a humidifier at all in your room at night? Maybe adding some moisture to the air will help your stuffiness. I have this Lavender spray that I spray on my pillows and bedding before I go to bed. It's very relaxing. I hear you on being wired at night. I'm such a night person and can easily stay up until midnight or later doing chores or projects or whatever. It's hard for me to wind down at night too.
Feel better!!!Caring about what people think of you is useless. Most people don't even know what they think of themselves.

Thanks!!!
That's a good idea! I could have done that last night, but now that Andrews home it'll be too chaotic before bed to read. lol! We need our own place real bad! I tried melatonin, I take that half frequently, actually, and I have some sinus pills with an antihistamine in them similar to Benadryl. Nothing works!
Nah, that wakes me up. Great for guys- it releases that sleepy hormone thing, but it seriously leaves me tossing and turning.
Thanks Swooshie! I'd love to have a humidifier, but we just can't afford one right now Money is tight! I'd like to say we're saving for an apartment, but we had to take over the internet bill while Andrew was away (which we were only happy to do...except it was a ridiculous amount of money. Right after christmas. We're broke. lol! Ahhh, life! )
That sounds liek a great idea with the lavender! I think Stephen would be cranky if I did that though- he'd be like "what the hell is that smell!?" Hahaha!Team Cookies Give You Superpowers

UD2 Mass Week 2- Day 2
Wednesday- Low carbs/cals, Legs and Back Hypertrophy
Calories Eaten yesterday- 1529
Calories burned- 2688
Weight this morning- 126lbs
Ahh, I see what's going on here. I just got spoiled over the holidays with all that beautiful sleep I was getting. I just have to re-adjust to being sleep deprived. lol! Andrew got in last night around 12:00am, and you know I couldn't sleep because I was anxious. I knew he'd wake me up when he got home, so I was all like "must go to sleep before he gets home!" So of course that panic/stress was no good for sleeping. Sigh! lol! What do you do? Deal with it.
Absolutely ravenous today. And I found out yesterday 1 egg has 1g of carbs. Booo! That adds an extra 4 carbs to my daily total! Now I have to really plan things a bit better- 104g yesterday! Bah!
This routine is good though for my schedule of no sleep. Just 2 light workouts during the week, then the tension on Friday, so I don't have to worry about lifting uber heavy when I'm baffed. I'm holding SO MUCH water today- I can feel it jiggle when I move. It's awful. I think TOM is coming up too, so that may be contributing to how tired I feel.
Mmmkay! That's about it! Workout coming up later! Will report back with lunchtime cardio! So hungry though I could chew off my own arm.Team Cookies Give You Superpowers

Hi Lori!!
I agree it is hard to go to sleep when you know your partner will be coming in and potentially waking you up!!
Have you tried any night time teas like sleepy time or sleepy time extra? (Celestial Seasonings)
Awesome workouts/volume!

Hi H! Andrew is the guy we live with- he's always up late and making noise! We love him dearly but it's a bit much on work nights.
I wanted to pick some up last night but the store I went to didn't have any Love it though!
I'm not sick! I just feel crappy from lack of sleep I just get run down here and there rather than actually getting sick. I'm just finding it rough getting into a good balanced pattern of working/training/sleeping. Life is hectic right now, and it's hard on the body. I'm hoping things will be better once we get our own place. That way maybe I can train in the mornings insteadTeam Cookies Give You Superpowers

Heya Tina! Thank you! Stephen was rubbing my back and was like "Woah! Look at your back! It looks so lean!" And I was all like "WHAT!? Where!?" And I had to go take a picture hahahaa!
Thanks- I'm fine I think Just tired. I had 2 nights in one week of 2-3 hours sleep and a bunch of 5 hour nights. Plus it's almost TOM and the week before always kills me anyway in terms of energy. I'm ok though, I just need to shake it off and keep moving!Team Cookies Give You Superpowers

I was cold and tired all day so at lunch time I went for a brief walk/jog. It was great! Got the blood flowing and woke me up without expending too much energy. I need that for tonight! lol! I'm excited for my back + leg workout!
My lower back is still sore from deadlifting on Sunday, but I wanna do RDL and Zerchers in addition lumberjack squats and modified jeffersons tonight. I'll superset lumberjacks with t-bar rows, and zerchers with rack chins YAY! It's going to be hectic though with Andrew there where his first day back! He'll have so many stories. Maybe Stephen will go hang out with him so I can workout in peaceTeam Cookies Give You Superpowers

Hahaha! I totally should! 10 bucks Stephen won't wanna do a workout if Andrews around anyway He hates working out when there are people walking back and forth/stepping over his weights and stuff! Drives him crazy. Me too, actually. Luckily he's usually not there when we workout in the evenings! I imagine they'll both hang out in the living room instead though..Then I'll be able to focus! SIGH! 1. more. hour. And as I suspected, Stephen volunteered to hang out with andrew while I do my workout. Though I imagine he'll still be out telling me stories Blarga. Blarga blarga.
