When I used to be at a competing level in my sport if I messed up something I really shouldn't have I would be in my own head getting pissed off for the first half hour or so after the competition... She probably cheered up later on and dealt with it.

Isn't it that for gymnastics you're in your prime at 16-18 years old? And by 20 you're pretty much done? If she's 17 then this is probably her only real chance for olympic gold and she lost. I'd also be pretty pissed knowing next olympics there will be new 16 year old hotshots likely taking my place and this being my only chance to achieve my dreams.

It's the Olympics though. It's supposed to be about more than just the competition. It represents a coming together of nations, yes to compete, but also to show solidarity with each other.

Came in here to say this. It's the freaking Olympics. It IS an attitude contest as well as an athletics contest. Behaving like a prissy little bitch when you lost is not sporting behavior, and when you're representing your country, you damn well better suck it up and present your good side to the world.
