Soft targets. They want the easiest targets they can find so that they can up their body count and get more attention from the media/country/world.

Everybody knows that schools are gun free zones aka criminal empowerment zones. Show up with a firearm and you probably have a force monopoly because all of the good guys that are there have been disarmed, because they follow the law.

I don't even know what to say, it's just sickening. Can't even send your kid to elementary school without worrying that some ******* whose mommy didn't love him enough is going to take it out on a bunch of helpless, innocent kids. I can't begin to imagine what these parents are going through. And who knows what the collateral damage will be, all these surviving kids traumatized by what happened, etc.
